Positive: Great location. 2 mins walk from Hikone station. 10 mins walk to Hikone Castle. Decent breakfast. Friendly staff. Very reasonable price.

Negative: Very small room. Smaller than the business hotels I stayed in Tokyo. Old and dirty. Velvet headboard looks dirty. Dried dark spots on the wall right next to the bed and by where your coat hangs. Sheet is clean but I can see dirty dried spots on the blanket inside. This is the dirtiest room I’ve stayed in Japan. Not soundproof. You can hear everything coming from the hallway. Next door guest talking on the phone with normal voice volume is audible.

Positive: We booked this hotel at short notice and got a good rate. The hotel was very nice with the staff very friendly albeit not much English was spoken. But that's ok we managed very well. Rooms were adequate, small but comfortable. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station with lots of food outlets close by.

Negative: It was a shame that the cocktail bar downstairs had what I thought to be a hefty cover change to just go in and have a drink.

Summary: Hikone was a very pleasant short stay. The castle was beautiful and just a short walk from the hote.

Positive: Great location almost next to Hikone Train Station. Breakfast was decent. Lots of great places to eat at around the corner. Even laundry facilities.

Negative: Rooms were small, bed too small for 2 adults
