What you will love in this house
The house is located in a very quiet valley very close to a bike path that has about 60km, the views of the house are exceptional since the mountains are very close from the back. The house has 2 floors, the upper one, with the bedrooms and a bathroom and the ground floor with the dining room, the kitchen and a bathroom. The house is very pleasant both in summer and winter as it has a very cozy fireplace and also heating. The house is made of stone but the interior is almost all wood.
The house is in a very beautiful valley in the region of La Garrotxa that is well known as a volcanic area and with a very careful landscape, the house is 5km from Olot, a very interesting city with a lot of cultural and commercial life.
The house is alone but with some houses nearby, there are also a couple of restaurants and a cooperative-store where they sell typical products of the area and that is five minutes by bike or two minutes by car. The bike path is very close and goes through what was once a train track so it has a lot of charm, it is worth going with children. The area is ideal for walking and hiking in the mountains where there are waterfalls and in some you can bathe. The nearby villages are small and very charming, in the area there are restaurants where "volcanic" (de la Garrotxa ") food, swimming pools, shops, medical services etc. are served.
The bike path and the municipal swimming pool of Sant Esteve d'en Bas are only 900 meters away.
We have free tickets to the pool that is very pretty and quiet.

Summary: The house is in an excellent location and has beautiful views of the mountains. Rosa is very responsive and helpful. She gave us great suggestions for restaurants and things to do in the area. The house is difficult to find initially, but putting the Hotel Vall d’en Bas in your GPS gets you very close and Dolors will meet you there within 5-10 minutes of calling. The house does not have WiFi, but there is free WiFi available nearby at the tourist office. There are two full baths, one upstairs with shower over tub and one downstairs with a small stall shower. The bedrooms are upstairs – two have doors and one is open with bunk beds. We were there in October when it was chilly and there is a separate thermostat on each level. There is a working fireplace with wood, matches, and paper for kindling provided. We didn’t use it, so we can’t really comment on it. There are about four steps to get into the house. A section of the entry hall and the living room floor has a rough stone floor that is difficult to navigate if you have mobility problems. The steps to upstairs have open backs, but are well spaced and there are hand rails on both sides, there is a small landing – to the left are four steps that have backs that leads to the hallway to the two bedrooms and the full bath – shower over large tub, suitable for a good, hot soak – to the right are four backed steps leading to an open room with bunk beds. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine along with standard items like a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. There is a table with a bench and chairs in the kitchen. There is a separate living room-dining room combination with a large table and many chairs. The living room/dining room has wonderful views of the mountains and there is a lovely, private backyard with a table and chairs with the same wonderful view. Once we learned our way around, we really enjoyed the area. Both women – Laura and Macarena – in the tourist office speak English and were very welcoming and helpful. We took a great 2-hour Segway tour of Volcanoes National Park, really enjoyed trying volcanic cuisine, going to the Olot Market, and just experiencing the peacefulness and natural beauty of the area.

Summary: Rosa, Xavier and Dolores are very nice and helpfully. The house is great de rooms are spacious and clean. The garden is big and offers a lot off shadow. It's nice that there are 2 bathrooms. We really enjoyed our stay.
