Summary: We had a very warm welcome from Mme. Rolland and she explained everything to us. The property was very spacious and the kitchen was large as was the salon. There was an enclosed patio which was a real sun trap. The garden was huge ! Ideal for children. The beds were very comfortable and large. There were three bedrooms in all with double beds. There were two bathrooms and a WC . So all in all a very pleasant break of five days.

Summary: The house is very spacy and calm with a large garden. Everything you need is there. We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality of Jacqueline very much. The house is situated at Rivedoux with two good restaurants just around the corner, La Flotte and St. Martin are easily to reach. We will certainly come back! Thanks to our wonderful host as well!

Summary: The property is located between 5 & 10 minutes walk West of Rivedoux Plage, set back away from the main road. If you plan on exploring the island by bicycle only, then we would suggest a more central location perhaps in or near to Saint-Martin-De-Re. However, the pretty harbour towns of La Flotte and Saint-Martin-De-Re are only 30 mins/45 mins away on the cycle paths from the house. To reach the far West side of the island, Ars-en-Re or the lighthouse at Saint-Clement-des-Baleines would require considerable time and effort for a family with young children or those not 'cycle fit', so a car would be useful. I cant comment on the islands public transport. We visited the island at the start of the school holidays and the recommended best beach at Le-Bois was severely overcrowded. The beach at Rivedoux Plage on the South side of the island, close to the mainland bridge and the property, was in our opinion the better beach. Clean, calm waters and far less crowded, although a very small central area designated for those who wish to bare all. Hardly offensive. The house, the pictures speak a thousand words. Everything from the furniture, decor and fabrics appeared very dated, some would say 'full of French charm'. One Bath with shower attachment downstairs - no shower curtain. Only real way to shower without flooding the bathroom floor was to lie down in the bath. Comfortable beds, clean rooms. Outside, again the pictures say it all. Not the prettiest garden area and could do with some TLC to make the place look more homely. About the owner, Jacqueline. A wonderful hostess who did absolutely everything to make our stay enjoyable. Very good at communicating and answering questions before and during our stay, (even since we returned home, providing updates on when the deposit will be refunded). Helped arrange bicycle hire at the local bike store on arrival, on hand during our stay when we could not operate the washing machine and flexible in meeting up for handover of the keys when we left a day early. 100% for the owner, could not ask for more. An honest review for what was overall, an enjoyable stay.

Summary: "If you are looking for a homely place to stay with true French character this is it. Madame Rolland is delightful and a very good host. The house is well positioned for great local restaurants, two within easy walking distance (300 yards for great seafood restaurant and 200 yards to a jolly local restaurant serving great pizzas and general French fare. The house has two very useful electric bikes should you wish to venture further. The beaches at Rivedoux we thought were the best as all sand so perfect for young kids. We had a great relaxing break with our girls (aged 5 and 7). Thank you."
