Summary: Our experience was lovely! We stayed two nights. The staff was so accomodating--it was our first experience at a traditional ryokan, and the staff was very helpful in explaining various customs. They made us feel very at home. The free shuttle to and from the station was very convenient and easy to reserve. The check-in and check-out processes were easy and pleasant as well, with matcha and sweets provided at check-in as an opportunity to rest and look out on the garden. Our room was gorgeous, with a stunning view of the mountains, and sleeping on the tatami was extremely comfortable. We reserved the private onsen both nights of our stay (for a small fee) and that was also a simple and convenient process. Finally, breakfast was amazing--all of the numerous dishes were delicious and beautifully prepared. Overall, it was a truly magical experience staying at Houshi Ryokan. We left this morning and already want to go back! ありがとうございました!

Summary: This is an amazing place, and if you stay as a family where some of you would like to visit an onsen, this hotel provides a great opportunity to stay in a traditional Ryokan with Onsen facilities. You will also get a lift to and from the station if you get in touch with the hotel beforehand. There is a lovely walk to some shrines nearby. The traditional breakfast is also a great experience.

Summary: The stay at Houshi was delightful! The straff managed to forsee every possible need and were so polite and warm. Our room was big and comfortable. Sure, the place has not been refurbished recently but that really is not an issue. Everything feels authentic. We had the traditional dinner and breakfast which I would highly recommend for a chance to try some genuine japanese food. The onsen was lovely for relaxation.

Summary: They are absolutely kind. When we arrived at Kagaonsen station, he came to us and picked me up to Ryokan. It was so comfortable. We added dinner and family bath. The dinner was so delicouse and family bath was also very nice. The most impressive thing was the tea ceremony. I am very satisfied with my experience in Ryokan.

Summary: Very pleasant stay and enjoyed kind welcome of the staffs. I expected this place is located a very remote area with full of natural sight. However, it is surrounded by villages, so I could not enjoy the scenic view from this hotel.
