Summary: A perfect end to a European vacation, if you are looking for long relaxing walks or bike rides through quiet French villages and countryside this is it. The property is beautiful and accommodations are as advertised. As mentioned in other reviews be prepared to climb stairs to the bed rooms, however I found the space and bathrooms quite comfortable.

Summary: We decided on a last minute Thanksgiving weekend getaway and stumbled upon this listing. Our plans were to find a place in between Verdun and Paris in order to take advantage of limited driving to the WWI sites and sight seeing in Paris. The Hunting lodge was the perfect spot. We arrived to fresh baked goods and a gracious husband and wife care taker team. They quickly had us settled and we started preparing our Thanksgiving feast that we packed along in coolers. The house was perfectly suited for our large family (5 kids, 2 adults) plenty of space and sleeping arrangements. The estate where the house was located was beautiful and provided the kids with plenty of room to play (included a playground, bicycles, and ping pong table). Later in the evening on the first night, we were introduced to the estate owner and he gave us a tour of the grounds and explained the history or the estate. We appreciated him taking the time to show us around and were absolutely thrilled to learn more about the entire estate and the main Chateau. We highly recommend staying here. We are hoping to return there when the weather is warmer and see the estate in bloom. Thank you to our hosts, staff and the fresh baked goods delivery every morning.

Summary: Overall, we were very pleased with the process of our vacation booking. Mr. and Mrs. Landmann were the most communicative and genuinely concerned every step of the way. The language barriers were minimal however just occasionally caused slight miscommunication we were able to work through. The payment went smooth as they established credit card acceptance. The owner also combined most all of the charges into a lump all inclusive as American often prefer (bedding, towels, wifi, etc). He went above and beyond to arrange a hunt 1 hr away and it was fabulous experience. We found the area and the food to be amazing and relaxing. Wifi worked great and the local town of Saint Menehould was pleasant to dine. We found the Super U (Walmart to Americans) to be 15 min drive and a real value for food. The home was quiet, bed comfortable, though if you are used to KING size bed it is not the American size, it would be more equivalent to a Queen. No real worries just in case you have a BIG man it might be an issue. We had a total of 5 in the home and it was perfect. I will note, the staircase is steep (No problem with kids as they have a secure gate at top) however if you have bad knees this would not be for you. On another positive note, our hosts were very kind and treated us to a champagne reception on our 3rd day, a rare invite in the states and it was much appreciated. We walked the historical home and loved the level and depth of our hosts. We found the home to be in order and with everything we needed for the most part. The drive time to Verdun (45min) and the Champagne cellars (55min) were easy to visit and educational. I thoroughly enjoyed staying in the countryside and really getting to know the true French, not what you might find in the big city of Paris. I highly recommend this Chateau and its wealth of history and accommodation.
