You will love being surrounded by beautiful trees on your scenic drive up the 1/2 mile driveway. When you reach the end of the road, you have arrived. The property is on a small private lake where you can enjoy fishing off the dock, lounging in the hammocks or boathouse, paddling around the island on a paddle board, kayak, canoe or enjoy a bonfire any time of the day. There are many 4-wheeler and snowmobile trails nearby if you choose to bring them along.
The winter months are great for ice fishing (bass and Northern Pike), snowmobiling, X-C Skiing, snowshoeing or biking on your Fat Bike. Groomed X-C ski trails near the loft are 10 minutes away. Spirit Mountain is a 30 minute drive for winter skiing, snowboarding and biking trails. Duluth has many beautiful mountain bike trails for all levels and have gorgeous scenery year round.
You will most certainly see loons, geese, deer, beavers, wild turkeys, sandhill cranes, Trumpeter Swans and eagles that surround the property. The loft above the garage is an inviting private Nordic hideaway with a cozy canopy bed, French press with provided coffee and the lake, sauna and boathouse are just a minutes walk.
The owners live on the property and may or may not be present during your stay, but will always respect your space.
The historic boathouse is a common space for guests to enjoy and it's located on the shore of our lake. Perfect for reading, getting out of the sun, having coffee, drinks or dining. It is not exclusive to the rental of the loft as the owners of the property may also be present and the geodesic dome in the woods is an additional rental in the summer months. The boathouse is open from May - October (although this depends on the weather). There is absolutely no overnight sleeping in the boathouse.

Summary: This was the perfect place for us to spend a couple of days away from the daily grind to decompress, relax and rewind. So peaceful with wonderful accommodations! And delicious treats to boot. Thanks for having us as your guests for a short visit.

Summary: This is a really nice, smaller lake not far from Duluth and the north shore. Great amenities, like fire pits, saunas, kayaks, paddle boards, etc. The hosts were probably 2 of the best hosts we have ever had anywhere in the world. Very high praise!

Summary: Simply amazing property on which to disconnect and relax. The loft is private and cozy. The boathouse is spacious and relaxing. The wood-fire sauna followed by a jump in the lake is fantastic.

Summary: If you don’t stay here, YOU ARE MISSING OUT. The apartment is super cozy and had everything we needed. The boathouse is absolutely amazing. It’s a perfect combo of all the updates for cooking but a relic from the 70s and perfect air flow for any time of day!!! Dock is great and super for an evening cocktail!!

Summary: My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. We enjoyed a 5-night stay. If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of life - this is the perfect place to relax and unwind. We rented the pontoon for a day of fishing, went on long walks and jobs and enjoyed the fire pit, boathouse and dock areas. Sheila and Darrin were fantastic hosts and we enjoyed their dogs Lucky and Willie as well! Sheila left us some baked treats on our last day which was a wonderful surprise!

Summary: This cabin provided everything we wanted and surprised us with so much more. The property is lovely, tranquil and natural. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. It seemed like every time we spoke with them they pampered and spoiled us. I’m not sure when we will get back up to Minnesota, but I’ll sure be tempted to stay here again.

Summary: The loft is amazing, lovely decor with all the necessities and more! Shelia and Darrin are the best hosts we have ever encounter with our rental stays - so friendly and generous. We loved the boathouse and the sauna and Darrin always offered to get the sauna started for us! The location couldn’t be more beautiful, the private lake is so peaceful and you are surrounded by beautiful trees! During our stay we saw some amazing northern lights! A total bonus to an already amazing stay! We look forward to coming back!
