This impeccably serene off-grid Studio surrounded by lush, tropical rain forest will bring you back time and again. Located just north of Hilo, the Studio stands alone for your quiet enjoyment and retreat on a family estate and farm on acreage with a shared saline pool & hot tub for your use from 7am to Sunset. The view is spectacular! From the bedroom you can look out across the lanai that drops 250 feet almost straight down (NOT for the faint of heart). There are many fruit trees from which you are welcome to gather, including citrus, banana, papaya, avocado and more. It is truly a unique location, one of the only heavily forested pieces of coastline north of Hilo left that is both close to the ocean and close to town, yet the views and sounds make it feel like you’re a million miles from civilization.

The Studio has everything one could possible need for their vacation of solitude to reset your clock and get away from the hustle and bustle of the Big City. The master bedroom (the only bedroom) has a Queen bed and views from every window. The lanai off the master has an unobstructed view of the gulch and valley below, with towering palm trees rising, and seating for 2 – perfect for morning coffee or tea. The sounds of the river and waterfalls are simply indescribable. A full kitchen with modern appliances and accoutrements is just waiting for you to prepare and cook every wonderful island meal you can dream of, with seating for two staring at the ocean, blue. The bathroom features a beautiful stand-up river stone shower, perfect for one, or even two. The home also has all the amenities one might need including a washer/dryer and basic internet access.

There are hiking trails and waterfalls to explore, too! Must be sure-footed and a healthy, smart-hiking type.

Please Note: This entire estate and farm are completely off-grid and powered by solar, Wifi may go down due to weather. Please expect to share your space with some of our friendly Hawaii geckos, lizards, birds, and plants.

Summary: This was an amazing magical place to stay. We loved the bird song and doing yoga on the deck. Definitely hope to come back.

Summary: Kitchen: the dish rack was so corroded we put it outside.. Bedroom: termites eating bedside table. Screen door on upper right corner is almost out. The geckos were more than a nuisance. They need to be caught and placed away. They poop on everything! Basically it’s lovely but needs some freshening up.

Summary: Great place to relax and unwind. My wife and I stayed for 9 days and didn’t want to go home. The view is amazing, the place is great. We didn’t use the pool or hot tub so no comment there. The frogs get very, very loud at night due to the creek being just beneath where you stay, although not within view due to the dense foliage. The sounds didn’t bother us and I slept like a rock but you might want to bring ear plugs just in case. This is a tropical environment so you will have geckos in the house and they leave little poops around. The cuteness factor outweighs the inconvenience for us so, net positive. Swim masks and snorkels, beach chairs and boogie boards are a nice touch. The host was vey helpful. Best coffee is at The Sippin’ Siren, good food at Booch Bar and Jackie Rey’s if you want something a bit more formal. We went to the local Safeway for sandwiches and snacks almost every day. Avoid the Seaside Restaurant. Ken’s House of Pancakes is a local institution and is owned by The Rock but ironically, the pancakes aren’t the best thing on the menu.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Birdsong VRBO is the ultimate getaway in the middle of a tropical rainforest with fantastic views from the wall to wall windows. We were lulled to sleep by the roaring of the waterfall and the twilight symphony of birdsong. We awoke to ocean views and more birdsong. We loved every minute, including the scenic drive through the tropical rainforest from the highway to the property! We even caught a glimpse of wild pigs! The interior was quirky and charming and perfect for the two of us. We will be back!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Birdsong is a beautiful little cottage set among the trees and foliage of a tropical forest with a view as far as the ocean. The cottage has lots of windows and light. Screens on all the windows except the door to the lanai. It has a well equipped kitchen, lots of towels as well as beach equipment for 2 people. It was very clean ad well maintained. The only downside was the the internet which was down except for one day. This may have been the very wet and stormy weather that we experienced for the 3 days we were there! I would also like to suggest that the mattress be replaced as it is soft and lumpy!The manager Jolanta sent us excellent driving directions to Birdsong as well as checkout instructions.We would certainly recommend renting this property for a vacation in the forest but close to beaches.

Summary: Absolutely stunning property. Very secluded view, perfect setting, very comfortable. The pool was great and the owner was very friendly and accommodating. We had a low water issue which was quickly resolved. Would absolutely stay here again.

Summary: This property was clean, organized, great views, good location from downtown Hilo, and spacious. We did travel the island a lot so we were there evenings and mornings, so we did not get to use the pool but we did go see it and it looked nice. However, it rains so much (like a rainforest) not sure when we would have used the pool, again, we were not there mid-days though. Also, there is no a/c, they use the top parts of the screened windows open 24/7 which does keep it cool but this means tons of moisture inside to where things feel damp. Would recommend checking towels (more so the less used ones like beach towels) before use, to see if they need washed and dried due to the dampness and sitting there, that just comes along with moisture atmosphere. Overall, it was a nice bungalow in a rain forest atmosphere. And! The birds do sing all the time, it was very nice, we didn’t need to use the sound maker on our phone, fell right to sleep every night. This was a nice spot for sure!

Summary: We stayed in March & it was fabulous! We wanted a place that was away from the crowds but still close to restaurants & activities. Downtown Hilo is about ten minutes away so that worked out perfect. We spent most of our time on the lanai when we were there. It was like your own private spot surrounded by trees & a view of the ocean. One of our favorite things was the sounds at night from the birds, geckos and whatever else was around. We had the windows & slider open to enjoy. We would definitely go back.
