Amateras is a luxury 5,000 square-foot estate-villa in the British Virgin Islands. Perched on 1.5 acres of hilltop and set among the spectacular boulders found only in Virgin Gorda, it offers dramatic 360-degree views of both sunrise and sunset over the Atlantic Ocean and Sir Francis Drake Channel. Amateras provides its guests one of the most spectacular vacation settings on the island of Virgin Gorda. With three independently appointed pavilions, Amaterasโ€™ accommodations are ideal for two families and their children, or four couples. The villa includes two two-bedroom cabanas with air-conditioning, the main house, a covered gazebo, a pool and a multitude of decks each with magnificent views.
The main house at Amateras was designed to fully capture the dramatic views in every direction and create the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living. The living space encompasses a number of seating areas with French doors leading to a multitude of decks with a professional kitchen at the center. The state of the art chefs kitchen offers stunning views of the Atlantic through the living room, and of Drakeโ€™s Channel through the formal dining space and is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and a full complement of dinner and glassware. There is dining in the main house as well as on the substantial covered terrace. The main house also includes a loft with its own terrace for yet another tranquil spot for relaxing.

Amateras offers two separate two bedroom cabanas, each with air-conditioning, a kitchenette, French doors leading to private decks and two full, separate bathrooms. One bedroom includes a king-sized bed, and the second accommodates either two twin beds or an additional king bed. Each cabana has a private entrance offering solitude from the main house, pool, and the other cabana making Amateras an ideal location for four couples or two families.

Summary: Amateras is a beautiful home set high amidst dramatic VG boulders. There are beautiful views from every room in the house and the breeze from the ocean keeps large kitchen and living room cool. The outdoor living/eating area is a great place to gather with family and friends. Clean, spacious and lovely! Highly recommend!

Summary: Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed your home. The views and location were terrific. The bedroom "pods" are a great design, as we had a family with a three year old, two twenty-somethings, and my wife and I. Everyone had their own privacy at night. It was great.

Summary: Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amateras. The home is spectacular -- just like the photos! The 360 degree views are incredible. The home is very well equipped and well kept. The owners were great communicators and were always very responsive to our questions. Their recommendations of things to do and places to eat were right on point. Renting a car is a must! We enjoyed exploring the various VIrgin Gorda beaches and resorts (Savannah Bay being our favorite beach). One of our suitcases didn't make it to Virgin Gorda and the property manager Anna Marie was very helpful in assisting us with that. It was a fabulous, relaxing week and we would certainly rent this home again!

Summary: Our family of six just returned from 7 nights at The Amateras and we all are suffering with the come home grumpies. This villa meet every expectation we imagined. The views are incredible and from every window in each pavilion, you can see forever. With this view does come some stairs! Thelma took good care of us with a mid-week towel change and a quick clean up. The pool was just the right tempature and the perfect stop after a long day at the beach! Didn't get to see Elvis, but plenty of lizards kept us entertained and would defiantly come inside. Each day we went to new beaches and all of them very close. Great location for the villa. Enjoy and hope I get to return.

Summary: My family stayed here for 6 nights to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. The villa sits high on the island and has amazing views and great breezes. The villa is nicely equipped and the local managers are quick to respond and help. The island is very low key, so this is a great vacation if you need an escape. The villa is separated into three areas, living kitchen, one two bedroom area and another two bedroom area. Our children are older, so this worked nicely for us. It was a great escape and would highly recommend this villa.

Summary: This was our 4th trip to the BVI's and our first staying on Virgin Gorda. The villa is stunning inside and out and MUCH more beautiful than the pictures. As someone had mentioned, this is more like a personal resort with separate pool area, dining building, and 2 private sleeping villas. Up on "windy hill," it is breezy and mild in the evenings, with views of water in all directions. Amateras is built among very nicely landscaped gardens. It was immaculate, and if you wish to cook, very well stocked with high quality pots, wine fridge, etc. The owner is very helpful in setting you up there. We had 8 staying for 10 days, and had plenty of space and privacy. Recommended highly to all, but be aware of a number of stairs to and from the parking area and sleeping quarters (built into a hill), so may be a little difficult for some. A short, few minute drive to the Baths, grocery shopping, and Spanish Town. Best place in the BVI's we've stayed at.
