Positive: All the staff was wonderful. They were very attentive to every request. The food at the resort was very good but somewhat of a limited menu. The island was quiet and remote and the scenery was amazing! We did snorkeling and scuba tours which were amazing! If you are looking for secluded downtime reading a book on the beach, it is a perfect location. We were in the off season and literally saw on one other tourist on the island. The photos that are in the listing are accurate. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable with ceiling fan and A/C.

Negative: We were looking for low key and isolated but discovered that maybe we went a little far. 1hr 45min to get to the island and really nothing else on the island. There was a small store and a pharmacy. No shops or other restaurants. We couldn't even buy sunscreen. There is no snorkeling directly on the island. You have to go out on a tour which was great but did require traveling. Did a fishing trip but be aware that this is more like going out with a local and watching them fish than actually fishing. We caught a couple fish but I never touched a rod just watched the local guy.

Summary: Amazing comfortable stay at a very remote beach in some of the most beautiful waters in the world.

It’s the most perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful island vibes. The staff were incredibly helpful and genuinely dedicated to making our stay comfortable. Especially Riddhi, thanks a lot!

Positive: Very stylish, good location, reasonably clean, great food, kind staff

Negative: Somewhat poor value because it is understaffed, especially the kitchen. Staff are great doing their best though, daily cleaning is good but deep cleaning could be better (stains in sink that you can rub off with nails), and rigid rules with no shoes allowed in stairs or hallways. Also, food has to be pre-booked at least 2 hours ahead for specific times but is always 30-40 min late, and cleaning staff is not aware when food has been booked so they come in when you are in the room instead of when you are out eating. Also, outdoor terrace has no shade so cannot be used during sunny hours (too hot). This could be improved.

Summary: Somewhat overpriced and understaffed, but stylish and great food and staff!

Positive: nice combination of location, design, simplicity supported by a price. I really was surprised to have a good stay not in a resort on Maldives. I got comfy mattress, caring and supportive staff, diving center and good reef close by - overall a very good place for a long staycation.

Negative: with my perfectionism cleaning is superficial, however they have it like this everywhere at Maldives. At least this doesn’t bother when you didn’t expect any.

Positive: We recently had a pleasure of staying at Isla Retreat and we were truly impressed by the attention to detail throughout the property. It was clear that the owners have thoughtfully considered every aspect of guest comfort. The room was equipped with everything that each guest might need – from a small refrigerator and air conditioning to high-quality toilet articles. We were also pleasantly surprised to find yoga mats and a beach bag, which showed how much they care about catering to a variety of guest needs. We cannot mention enough how comfortable the bed was! The room itself was spacious, clean and beautifully designed, offering a great balance of comfort and style. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The check-in process was smooth, and we even got a small excursion of the island. Another great feature was the cleanliness. The room was cleaned twice a day, which kept everything fresh and tidy during our stay. The food was delicious and well-prepared, though we would suggest expanding the menu a bit for more variety, especially for longer stays. That said, every meal we had was flavorful and satisfying. The Bikini Beach on the island was quiet and secluded, making it a great spot for a peaceful getaway. The calm atmosphere and beautiful views made it a perfect place to relax. A big thank you to the wonderful staff (Aku, Putu, Ismail, and all the other guys whose names we didn't catch) for making our stay so enjoyable. Your warmth and attention to detail truly made a difference, and we look forward to returning!

Positive: We absolutely loved it, thank you so much for the incredible stay and experience! We particularly enjoyed the beautiful retreat with its rooms and facilities as well as all the great activities eg SUP Board, Kayaking and the beautiful beaches. Special shout out to the owner Ismail and all the passion and love for details that goes into this wonderful place. You‘ve created a little paradise on earth. We would love to come back one day. Another special shout out to Akoo, we enjoyed staying at Isla a lot and would have loved to stay longer.

Positive: The owner Ismail is a passionate, highly skilled, and experienced free diver who is eager to deliver excellence! He is one of a kind and lives at the property himself! Andy and Akoo are awesome too! Great hosts! Beautiful property, lots of smart choices regarding the interior design and setup! Can’t wait to see Isla retreat in full bloom with all its additional options like the gym. Breakfast, especially the Maldivian one was delicious! Good coffee! The bikini beach with its sandbanks and the snorkel area close by, reachable by bicycle or via a 20 minute walk are stunning, especially for sunsets. Worth it to do the walk to the other end of Fehendhoo! A mini shop, soccer field as well as another restaurant are in walking distance of the guest house. Mosquito repellent is sprayed twice a day which helps a lot. If you can, try to arrange a tour to hanifaru bay and a snorkeling or diving trip at the reef edge of the lagoon. If you are very lucky you might even spot some manta rays in front of Isla retreat. Take a kayak to explore the two surrounding islands and sandbanks or go for a fishing trip. Can’t beat a catch of the day caught by yourself and prepared by the chef! Another highlight: bbq night at the beach prepared by the team! You guys rock! The small corrals in front of the guesthouse are worth a visit too. Don’t hesitate to ask for the excellent snorkeling equipment. I can only guess but from what we experienced from the sideline: if you are into free diving, there seems to be no better teacher not place to be. Don’t forget to fully relax at the beach, and fall asleep in one of the hammocks near by 😄 enjoy the island time and the fact that you are on a local remote island

Negative: The food selection and portion size was less than we expected. The staff is friendly, kind but pretty shy and a wee bit insecure because most of them are inexperienced. Just as a personal note - we absolutely understand the enthusiasm and passion for Italian food - we simply came with a different idea in mind and had a bit of a hard time to get a glimpse of the Maldivian food experience. We were a little bit off in terms of timing to experience the amazing pizza oven and the little cafe in action. None of this is a dislike! Some might be tiny points of potential improvements or hints to take into consideration to enjoy to the fullest!

Positive: It’s a new building, really spacious and well chosen interior design. The owner Ismail is really helpful and took good care of us. He was reachable at any time if we had wishes or problems. The activities provided by him are well planned and organized and even having individual wishes is not a problem. It felt like you’re part of a big family, everyone was so nice. The area is really calm and quiet, even a cozy private beach is available for hanging out. The food is really good and even wishing dishes that are not on the menu wasn’t a problem at all. We got a room upgrade because the first days we stayed here we were the only guests. We liked it so much that we even rescheduled our flights to stay a few nights longer.
