Positive: The flat was in a great situation for Stockbridge shops ,bars and eateries and a short walk into central Edinburgh. The flat was a good size pleasantly decorated. The area was very quite The bed was comfortable and the bedroom was large with plenty of empty space. The owner was available by phone and e mail as was Altido customer support All staff I spoke to were polite and helpful.
Negative: The flat was managed by the company Altido. The flat was very cold, 13 degrees when we arrived. It is a basement flat, with sash windows, had the information on bookings.com stated there was no secondary glazing I would not have booked this property in the winter time. The kitchen never heated to more than 13 degrees with the wooden shutters constantly closed over an 8 day stay.The sitting room had one radiator positioned on the opposite side of the room to the window, consequently the dining area of the room heated to 19 degrees whilst the seating/TV end managed 18.3 degrees with a cold draught. The exterior of the flat had been pressure cleaned the day before we arrived and so some debris ended up in the kitchen,on the window sill and floor and also the sitting room window sill. It was pretty disgusting but no one from Altido had checked the property prior to our arrival. A cleaner was sent the next day. The windows had black mould around them, the kitchen stools had black mould on the legs, in the sitting room there was a large cobweb and lots of black debris on the sash window. . The bathroom also had issues , there was a shower screen over a bath, this one had a broken seal and a build up of debris around the hinges. The seal was repaired the next day. The repair lasted 5 days and then the new seal started to drop off again. The bottom inside edge of the deep freeze was dirty and rusty, cooking wise one stew pan, one sauce pan, one frying pan , no pouring jug/ measuring jug, no draining spoon,no colander and only one rubbish bag for 8 days. Unhygienic wooden butchers block. The bedroom lacked a chair although large enough, loads of cushions placed on nice clean bedding, not good. In my opinion the flat needs a good professional clean and its more for show than for a practical space to live for 8 days. The owner was very apologetic about all the problems and tried to resolve as much as he could.
