Positive: Amazing place with all the conveniences that you need very close to the national park. The owner organized a safari for us and came with us as a guide and pointed out many animals.

Positive: We had a very good stay! The host helped us with the busses (there are busses from Ella to the place and to Sigiriya). They also cooked very good food and we had a stunning safari organised by the host. Highly recommend!

Positive: Lovely simple home stay made extra special with the kind host and great safari in very close by Wasgamuwa national park arranged by our host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and visit! The host cooked delicious dinner and breakfast for us and even sourced a couple cold beer for after our safari. The value for money was excellent and it was lovely to relax outside the home stay and chat with the host who spoke excellent English . We saw 25 elephants, atleast 15 different bird species and mongoose on our safari. So happy to base ourselves at Kandyan Rest versus travelling further to do safari as we were only 10 minutes from entrance to the park.

Positive: Great place right in the heart of Wasgamuwa, excellent location if you're doing a safari. The owner was lovely and spoke excellent English, he welcomed us with a delicious drink and we had a chat. In the evening we were cooked an amazing dinner, super tasty and very cheap as well. Can highly recommend this place to stay, it's incredible value for money!

Negative: The only thing I can say is the pillows were quite hard, everything else was amazing.

Positive: Fantastic stay after our visit to the National Park We stayed here for one night after visiting the National Park, and we can wholeheartedly recommend this place. We were traveling with two children and had a wonderful stay. In the evening, we had a long and pleasant conversation with the owner outside, after which he surprised us with a delicious à la carte dinner. The next morning, a generous breakfast was waiting for us — beautifully prepared down to the smallest detail. The interior also deserves a special mention: tastefully decorated, full of atmosphere, and with great attention to detail. Not your typical, plain hotel room, but a warm and charming space with beautiful furniture. Everything was also spotlessly clean. We honestly couldn’t have wished for a better stay in this region. The owner sometimes also offers guided tours through the National Park — definitely worth asking about! In short: highly recommended!

Negative: The beds were firm. I don't care but some people might prefer softer beds.

Negative: Impossible to communicate with the family. We thought we booked a full day safari, but we were back at the homestay at 10 in the morning. During the safari the boy even tried to fake seeing elephants.
