Summary: I usually do not give ratings but this time I feel that I have to let people know how amazing this Ryokan/hotel is. First the location is right in the middle of Beppus 7 Hells. You walk out and around corner they are! Second the hotel has breathtaking views of Beppu and the sea. Third the ryokan do not look much from the street but boy when you walk in you are surrounded by absolutely beautiful japanese garden, pond and architecture. Fourth, all the 4 rooms we had had own beautiful onsen bath in them. Could not believe it how great it was. Fifth, there is an amazing public onsen on the rooftop with great views of Beppu and the sea with inside and open air onsens with beautiful garden and traditional japanese steam saunas which were the first for me and great experience. Sixth, the food!! We had half board and i strongly suggest it. not only the japanese breakfast is served in a unique way but the dinners… Delicious teppanyaki served right in front of you with amazing views of the city and second evening delicious 8 course Kaiseki served in perfect way. Just perfect! And last but absolutely not least: the service! The hotel staff goes beyond everything to make your stay perfect. I have travelled in Japan now about 30 times and I know it is in the custom but this is something else! If you go to Beppu stay here!! Thank you everybody there making our Beppu stay absolutely perfect and hope to visit you soon enough!

Summary: We stayed in the Sakura room, it was absolutely amazing! We arrived before check in and the staff kindly took our bags and held them for a few hours while we explored the surrounding area (it is right next to the hells of Beppu). The room was very clean and spacious with a private indoor and outdoor onsen as well as a beautiful garden with its own cherry blossom tree. The hotel provides you with everything you need for a relaxing onsen experience! Would definitely stay here again.

Summary: Lovely ryokan. Excellent fixed-course meals (both Japanese and western). As with most traditional Japanese inns, there is little flexibility when it comes to their set ways (such as asking for a cup of coffee with breakfast, when you are only offered tea…can not do). The area surrounding the inn is also quite industrial and unattractive. But it is within easy walking distance of Beppu’s main attraction—the Hells of Beppu hot springs.

Summary: The food is ok, but overpriced. The Onsen is far from the room, the way to the Onsen could be cold in the winter. Staff and service are just ok, not to a level that can match the price they charged. There are still constructions ongoing, you can smell fresh paint in some area.

Summary: Service was terrible, patchy and staff was not attentive. Food was subpar for the price paid and way below expectation. In fact, of all our travels throughout Japan - this , unfortunately, has to be the only place where food and service has fallen off the cliff! The only saving grace was that location was superb.

Summary: Just next to tourist attraction area, 5 hells out of the 7 hells within walkable distance. But there’s no frequent shuttle to Beppu station except reservation for check in and check out only.

Summary: The Ryokan was very nice and huge. There is a balcony to with a very nice view. The food was good and the room comes with indoor and outdoor private onsen which is very good for those who enjoy privacy and does not want to go to public bath.
