Positive: I’m so so so happy I decided to stay at the Kanzaki Beach House! This is more of an experience than just a please to sleep. Both the property and the surroundings are stunning. The vibes are calming, grounding and open minded. I stayed two nights in the female dorm and met loads of cool warm people. Ate beautiful dinners with everyone, enjoyed sunset beach walks and took the train to Amanohashidate – highly recommend!
Negative: A bit more pricy than I usually go for, but it was worth it!
Summary: A sweet oasis

Positive: An elegant and delicate guest house facing the Sea of Japan, everything is neat and warm, a place sublimated by the kindness and welcome of Mary. Very easy to access by the Tango Kanzaki train stop, a stone's throw from Miyazu, Amanoashidate or Mishimaizuru. Out of tourist season it is a place conducive to meditation and rest. A marvel.
Negative: Nothing

Positive: Nice place right on beach..surfer vibe..room tastefully decorated. Little overpriced.
Negative: Really nice hosts. But slightly passive aggressive nature of the female hostess. Overly friendly one minute, slightly passive aggressive the next regarding usage of the facilities. Not a deal breaker, but I felt like we were walking on eggshells at times.

Positive: A true gem at the Sea of Japan. The owners, Marie and her son Jordan, speak both English and Japanese fluently. They run this basic, simple, clean and quiet guesthouse with a lot of commitment and with a big heart. You might just want to listen to the waves and relax in a hammock. You might want to try SUP, go swimming or collect shells from the white sand. Or you might want to use this place as a base camp for a day trip to Amano Hashi Date. When you are tired of the tourist masses there, you just return to your peaceful home at the sea. We have travelled Japan as a family with a rental car for 3,5 weeks, and this little beach house was our favorite place. IMO, you cannot go wrong with this one.

Summary: Quiet, relaxing beachside stay

Positive: This new guest house one is definitely a hidden gem. Right on the beach in a quiet part of Kyoto. You'll be met with 5 traditional rooms with a shared living area and bathroom. Whilst the rooms are traditionally minimalistic the air-conditioning is cold and they are impeccably clean, as are the showers and toilets. The communal space is where it comes together with a well equipped kitchen and dining area. Guests from the 5 rooms and 2 camping spots share this space and even though fully booked during our stay it was no problems with use and everyone worked together. The outdoor area results in another lovely sitting and shared space with tables and chairs and hammocks etc. If that's not your thing walk 7.5 seconds and you're on what feels like a private beach but with all the entertainment of fishermen, surfers, sup boards and boats and ships passing by from the nearby port. Marie the host speaks perfect English and Japanese and will go out of her way to make your stay enjoyable. As it's a fairly rural location, dining out options are very limited if you don't have access to a car so make sure you bring supplies to make use of the shared kitchen (a large fridge/freezer is also provided to share. So don't hesitate, pack the car or stock up at the supermarket and grab the train and check this one out away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I know I'll be back!
Negative: It's not a negative, just an awareness message this guest house is in a rural location with not much around so you need to be prepared with supplies to make use of the wonderful facilities and location. If you keep this in mind the location is definitely a positive

Positive: Marie is a very kind, open and helpful person. Thank you for the watermelon:) We really enjoyed our stay at Kanzaki Beach House. Room is not too big, but anyway you would spend more time on the beach :) Parking is ensured . Futons were comfortable.
Negative: No hot water if you are the last one to shower:( We were struggling a bit with the sliding doors.
Summary: We recommend if you would like to rest a bit.
