Enjoy some quality time-out in this beautiful and cozy lodge. Kereru Lodge is set on a 20acre lifestyle block with farm animals all around. Looking out over the paddocks and hills with plenty of trees, it is very peaceful and relaxing. You can hang out with the goats. For cold days there is an excellent fireplace and the whole lodge is made of wood. The interior is lovely and warm and has a great feel to it.
Alternatively you can choose from the endless number of activities this region has to offer. You will find Kakahi is located nice and central and gives you lots of options:
*Skiing at the Whakapapa ski field or visit the Chateau for some "high tea" or Sunday carvery
*Biking on the Timber Trail, the 42 Traverse, Fishers Track etc
* Tongariro National Park is only half an hour away, do the Tongariro Crossing
* Walking distance to the Whakapapa and Wanganui rivers, fly fishing paradise
* Canoeing/Kayaking on the Wanganui river. Alternatively have a white water rafting adventure with Tongariro River Rafting or go in a jet boat to the Bridge to Nowhere or the Lavender Farm
*Tokaanu hot pools are 45 minutes drive away. While you're there spoil yourself and go to the Lake Land House for some divine food while looking out over Lake Taupo
*Kakahi is a tiny rural village, away from the beaten track, away from any through fare. Still there is some quality time to be spent here. After dark go for a walk through the Te Rena cutting and let yourself be spell bound by the glow worms, it's like a magical fairy tale.
Pets are welcome after previous arrangement.

Summary: Very peaceful, very clean and relaxing property. Comfortable and good qualityRe pricing, I think the standard charge of $160 is very well priced, but when the service fee and the cleaning charge are added, making this over $240 for a night, is too steep. There is no TV nor radio. Being quiet and peaceful is one thing, having usual entertainment is expected these days
