Positive: This historic music venue is located on over 100 acres of land at the base of Mt. Konocti. It is being renovated after a long period of closure. I stayed there over 20 years ago and had fond memories. Even then it was a bit run-down, so my expectations were not especially high. I booked a suite for a family get together. My room was spacious and well equipped with a full kitchen, separate bedroom, balcony and good quality linens. The staff was very helpful although I experienced very few issues. The only restaurant that is currently open (Andy's Tavern) had good food and service. The poolside bar had drinks and food which we enjoyed in the evening. If you want to experience Clear Lake this is a good choice and value. Be sure to check out the amazing display of musicians who played there in the photo gallery by the restaurant.

Negative: Even in August the resort was eerily quiet with what seemed like very few guests. The staff told me it is busier when they have an event. The room was not quite as clean as I would have liked, but nothing gross. It was quite warm during my stay so I could not use the balcony, but the A/C worked well. My room did not have any shades for the large window, which seemed odd - other rooms seemed to have them. The grounds were pretty sad, with an abandoned water structure full of pine needles, missing fencing, and a strange Sasquatch statue. I hope that they get around to this work soon.

Summary: Historic music venue in a lovely setting. Still being restored but good spot to see Clear Lake.

Positive: The ladies at the front desk were terrific, especially Amber. The swimming pool is still first-rate, as is the restaurant. The weight room is awesome!

Negative: Kayak rental needs change. The kayaks should be stored down at the lake shore. I had to help carry a heavy two-man kayak down the steep boat launch there. Not an easy task wearing sandals, and it invited injury. Also, Clear Lake is in terrible shape because of its massive algae blooms. Guests should be warned of that before they consider renting a kayak. Obviously the resort can't control the water quality of the lake, but they should be open about it with their guests.

Summary: Overall, Konocti Harbor Resort is a very nice place to spend a couple of relaxing days.

Positive: Every staff member was really friendly which significantly enhanced my stay. The pool area was really nice. Signed rock and roll items on wall in the breakfast lounge added to the vibe.

Negative: free wifi in the cloud building did not work

Summary: Glad we stayed there. I would expect it to be even better next time I stay (were staffing up)

Negative: The outlets to charge boats did not function and they could use some more boat parking and over night boat slips for hotel guests

Positive: The location being on the lake.

Negative: We were late getting to the property due to an inordinate number of freeway closures. When we finally made it to the property, there was a closed gate with no security at the guardhouse. There was a sign to call the front desk and I had to use my cell phone even though the was a call button on the intercom. Now none of this was a deal breaker for me. It just made me feel a little out of place.
