Positive: We booked this hotel because of the cabins.
Negative: Four stars is ridiculous. The whole hotel is very dated and in need of serious investment to improve. It was a surprise to find that the cabins had NO WI-FI. Yes, it didn’t mention in the room description that there was Wi-Fi but in this day and age, if Wi-Fi isn’t included it should be mentioned. Every activity (even the swimming pool) costs extra to use. When I asked the prices, I was given a price list in Japanese and told to google translate it. For a supposed 4 star hotel, this information should have been translated. The only good thing was the very prompt bus service to and from the town but I would recommend others to just book somewhere central.
Summary: Grotty and no Wi-Fi in the cabins.

Positive: Hotel is located near the forest (or park?), so we had a wonderful view into the trees from our balcony. It’s about 20 minutes walk from the Bus terminal or city centre, but they have regular shuttles. I will attach the schedule of the shuttles. It’s a small blue bus with the hotel’s name written in English, it was easy to find it. Onsen was very good, one for ladies had a small quiet waterfall. Both outdoor onsens feature lying baths and two big pools of hot water. The temperature of the water could be cooler, but maybe I would have appreciated it more in winter. The breakfast was very delicious, it’s a buffet style with some local specialties. I think it’s easy to stay for a week without getting bored with food.
Negative: The beds and pillows were hard. Hotel is a bit dated, but no big deal. Wi-fi was unstable.
Summary: Classic hotel with nice hot spring and great breakfast

Positive: Historic Japanese rooms, which made you really feel like you were living in ancient Japan, but each one had modern amenities.
Negative: The staff never went the extra mile to assist us with any activities or issues we had. They only provided the bare minimum assistance which didn’t not make us feel like appreciates patrons. Also I recommend they make info regarding their “no tattoo” policy more readily available.
Summary: Nice but there an amazing Onsen has Private or community options right around the corner from

Positive: Everything was perfect, the facility had everything you needed and imagined and more... The staff was amazing and I cannot say enough about them, I felt like a VIP. They were so nice, accommodating and soooo helpful. We stayed in the cabins(10 minute shuttle ride to main building)and I'd prefer to have stayed at the main building for convenience. The shuttle to town was awesome. Breakfast and dinner were awesome. Really everything was amazing and would go back in a heartbeat.
Negative: I loved everything, just needed more time to fully enjoy all the amenities.

Positive: We rented a cabin during our stay which was clean and the heated floors were already warmed up before we arrived. The shuttle to and from the main resort was extremely convenient and arrived upon request. The onsen is absolutely phenomenal and the breakfast was great with a lot of options. My wife is a vegetarian and we never had any problems filling our plates. The staff were very nice and accommodating and are willing to go above and beyond to make sure your stay was exceptional. Honestly, my wife and I loved staying here and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Positive: Very large hotel with many things you can do, probably good for families as it has kids room and playgrounds. But couples would also enjoy. About 15 minutes walk to center. Inside and outside onsen Good western breakfast (finally not liquid scrambled eggs) (they also have japanese breakfast)
Negative: I hate when the bed has only a sheet under a blanket which is never washed. The sheet comes loose and you sleep under the dirty blanket. Very old dark brown room, not very pleasant smell, but windows have nets and you can open them. Overall other than the room itself it was great, but would probably look for different options next time. If they provide normal bed sheets, i would book again.
Summary: Dirty room, good facilities

Positive: Overall, an amazing experience of a typical retreat in the Japanese countryside. The village had a lot of options for entertainment, the room was spacious and comfortable, the meals were perfect, and the service was outstanding.
Negative: You can tell some amenities are older and worn out, the most relevant was the bedroom's bathroom. It was quite dated with visible signs of rust. The onsen and most of the equipment for the activities also had significant signs of age, but overall, they were still clean, functional, and contributed to a good atmosphere.
