La Rondinaia is set on a hillside not far from the lively Umbrian town of Pietralunga, a 15 minute drive from the house. In the town are supermarkets, restaurants and cafes, one restaurant La Locanda del Borgo, features in the prestigious Gambero Rosso guide. It is also a great area for country walks.
The house enjoys complete peace and quiet and the most beautiful views over the hills. It is totally private and not over-looked. The house is a beautifully restored old stone farmhouse with chestnut beams and terra-cotta floors throughout.
The rooms are generously spacious, beautifully furnished and comfortable. The sitting room has sofas and easy chairs, TV and DVD and a large stone fireplace, it leads through to a dining room for 8 people and to the delightful country kitchen with excellent preparation and cooking areas, kitchen table and chairs and with French windows which open onto a lovely wide patio with its own outdoor dining area and sun loungers where there is a barbecue.
The patio with its vine covered pergola looks over the well-maintained herb garden and steps lead down to the pool area with is paved all round and provided with large umbrellas and sun loungers. The views from the patio and 10x5 m pool are wonderful. One double bedroom is downstairs with a bathroom adjacent. The other two bedrooms each with a bathroom are upstairs; one has a double bed and the other bedroom has 2 single beds. All the bathrooms have showers but not bath tubs. Downstairs there is also a utility room with washing machine. Free wifi throughout.
The Wifi is provided free and unrestricted. The larger bustling market town of Citta di Castello is a 20 minute drive and has many shops and restaurants plus a weekly market.

Summary: I have taken some time to write this review mainly because I don't really want other people to find out about it! It is quite simply the best holiday we have had in Italy. The property is beautiful - the countryside is stunning. The owners are helpful and the local town is charming. I would say that the property is quite isolated and this may not appeal to everybody; the drive to it takes some time from the nearest motorway. However if you are looking for a restful holiday with peace and quiet then this is the house for you. We took our bikes with us but found some of the local hills a bit challenging; we'll stick to walking next time! Not for people who are looking for excitement or glitz but the perfect restful family holiday!

Summary: We enjoyed our stay so much and are very sad to have left. By far the best place we have stayed at in Umbria. We will miss it. Compliments to the owners for keeping a safe and clean place for us to stay at.

Summary: This very beautiful house really takes one away from everyday life and its cares, it is so quiet and restful. The interior is charming, unfussy and with enough room for 6 people to easily live comfortably. All very well thought out and the country views are just delightful. Spartaco was very helpful when a summer storm tripped the electricity.

Summary: Our stay at La Rondinaia was lovely. The views were spectacular, particularly by the pool. All of the facilities were in top condition. It was very peaceful staying here; there were no noisy disturbances, so we could fully enjoy the villa to ourselves. It was a perfectly relaxed holiday and it was a delight to stay here!

Summary: We had a fantastic week at La Rondinaia. The house is beautiful, large and spacious and very comfortable, the kitchen is amazingly well equipped and the gardens and pool are lovely. The caretakers left a welcome basket of goodies which was a really nice touch. But what sets this property apart is the setting. The views from the house and the garden are amazing and the photos don't really do the place justice. You really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, you can't see any other houses or hear any noise, it's lovely. It does mean you are quite isolated, the nearest village is a 25 minute drive but there is everything you need there and if you don't plan on doing much then this place is a great place to relax and do nothing. I would certainly recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful holiday in a lovely house in the Italian hills.

Summary: We loved our holiday here. The villa, pool and gardens are beautiful with stunning views in every direction. There are no close neighbours so our kids enjoyed making plenty of noise in the pool! The rooms are very spacious and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. We were also very grateful for the welcome pack as we arrived on a national holiday. Pietralunga is a short drive and has a decent supermarket, a bakery and some nice restaurants. I can highly recommend and hope to return one day.

Summary: Ticked all the boxes for that perfect get away from it all holiday. The villa was very comfortable and well equipped. Outside space would be hard to beat the views where wonderful and the changing light made it magical. Would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and famy
