Experience the best of beach living at our lakeview cottage on the sandy shores of Lake Huron. Whether you're looking for a relaxing beach getaway or an activity-filled adventure, our property delivers on all fronts.
Nestled amongst the trees in a gated beach community, you're free to explore all that Hillsboro Beach has to offer! The beach extends for miles in both directions and is ideal for swimming, lounging, sandcastle building, and relaxing sunset walks. Tennis courts and a full-size kids play structure offer a spot for those looking to stay active during their vacation, while the nearby lagoon filled with painted turtles, frogs, and minnows is a great way to keep kids busy for an afternoon! Alternatively, bring your own boat, kayak, or paddleboard to take full advantage of the beautiful freshwater lake!
Our property features a large shared fire pit (wood provided) with gorgeous sunset views, making it the perfect way to finish off a day of fun in the sun. Come get away from it all at Hillsboro Beach.

Living room includes TV Monitor (with HDMI cable) and remote controlled electric fireplace/heater. Bright and spacious with 5 large windows.
Kitchen includes: full size fridge/freezer, stove & oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, pots and pans, cutlery, and dishes/cups.
No linens, towels, or toiletries included; please bring your own sheets, pillows, duvets, and towels. Three piece bathroom includes sink, toilet, and shower.
Outdoor deck and patio includes propane BBQ (propane included at no charge), dining table and chairs, and outdoor chairs. From the deck, it's less than a minute walk across 100 feet of sand to the lake.
Tennis & basketball court, frog pond, and swingset/climber nearby. Guests will need to provide their own tennis racquets and/or basketballs.
1 parking space guaranteed, additional spots available upon request.
--- The Beach ---
Lake water is clean and warm, shallow and sandy at the shoreline and gradually deeper as you go out further. Great for kids/toddlers/non-swimmers in shallow area, or advanced swimmers out in the deep. On wavy days, water is great for bodysurfing, while calm days are perfect for sunning and relaxing - so bring your floaties!
--- The Neighbourhood ---
The cottage is located on Hillsboro Beach, a family-friendly private beach not open to the pubic. Closest town is Forest, ON (10 minute drive), with a grocery store, pharmacy, LCBO/Beer Store, movie theatre, and restaurants/shopping.
Kettle Point boat launch is located about 10 minutes away with daily trailer parking for pleasure crafts or fishing boats.
If you enjoy day trips, we're located about 20 minutes drive from Sarnia, ON, with additional shopping and restaurants just across the border in Port Huron, USA. Grand Bend is another popular tourist destination with souvenirs, outdoor activities, bars, restaurants, and patios. Mini putt is our personal favourite.
Stonepicker Microbrewery, Dark Horse Winery, and Twin Pines Cidery are also popular local spots for a pint, tasting, and good eats!

Summary: We had a lovely week at this property. 2 adults and 3 kids (5,7 & 8). Small cottage but enough room for a cozy week away from a busy life. Right on the lake, with a very sandy beach and shallow water for the kids to swim and play safely. We will absolutely come again.

Summary: We stayed for a week with two young kids (3 and 5) and two adults. The house was clean with all amenities as listed. The hosts were very easy to communicate with via email or in person. The beach was perfect for little ones! Shallow water and beautiful sun sets. The park was so close and the kids loved the frog pond. Such a great stay and would highly recommend!!

Summary: Beach was amazing! Cottage is quaint. Recommend no more than 4 people (best for two people). Cottage is located behind the main cottage but the people in the main cottage are very nice and give you privacy. Water is very shallow... perfect for kids or non swimmers (great for lounging right in the water)!

Summary: This property is advertised as beachfront. While it is near the beach it is tucked in beside a much larger property and is not really beachfront, but is beside a another property that is beachfront. The property also states it has a fire pit. I had expected to have a fire pit on the property. There is a communal fire pit.....but not one to gather around beside the cabin. The bed I slept in was comfortable. The other bedroom had beds that were very uncomfortable. My guests left early because they were not willing to sleep on it another night. Given that it was 2000. approx. for the week, it would be nice is the furnishings are comfortable. The living room futon and chair are both old and uncomfortable. The owners were pleasant and location lovely, but the add misrepresents the property. I was disappointed to have spent to much money and received so little.

Summary: Diane's cottage was perfect for us. Diane and her family are extremely friendly and hospitable. They were very easy to talk to and made you feel like home. They were available to answer any questions or concerns. The location is gorgeous, beach is right at the door step. It is private with access for only members of the community. It was great to be able to use the play area for my 16 month old toddler as well as just walk over to the beach and swim in the lake. There is a campfire area that was perfect to watch the beautiful sunset from as well as graze at the starts at night. The cottage was very clean and had all basic amenities like lawn chairs, loungers, bbq, picnic table and essentials in the kitchen. Diane's cottage is very well suited for families with small children. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be staying there again. Thanks Diane and family for making our vacation quite a memorable one.

Summary: Really lovely place right by the lake. The owners were so helpful and welcoming and made sure everything was fine all week. Cottage comfortable and very well appointed. Great swims and walks among the trees. Highly recommended!

Summary: We had a wonderful time at the Hennessy's beach cottage! Cute, clean, airy cottage was perfect for us and our two boys. The beautiful sandy beach is just outside the door which was great with two little ones running around...easy to grab the blanket and towels and head right down to the water. We enjoyed the swing set and slide, playing in the sand, walking down the sandy beach and skipping stones. BBQ grill was perfect for grilling up dinner. The nearby town is close for anything you need, and we were also just a 25 min drive or so from Grand Bend Beach, which had a great splash pad. The Hennessy's were wonderful; friendly, kind, just all-around excellent hosts. We really enjoyed are visit and hope to come back again in the future!

Summary: Can't say enough great things about our stay. The Hennesy's were more than accommodating. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. If there was anything we needed they were there to help. We would definitely go back.. Miss Michael and Daphne already!!! Great host!!!
