6 bedroom farmhouse in Pommiers-Moulons, near Jonzac, Charente Maritime, 10 minutes drive to the nearest town and golf course. This beautifully renovated 18th century Charentaise stone farmhouse is in a beautiful setting on the edge of a hamlet and surrounded by unspoilt countryside. It has been sensitively restored and contains all the modern comforts one would find in their own home.
Your private pool is just 5 metres from your back door with an outside patio dining area nearby. The private garden has a large grassed area for outdoor games.
3 of the 6 bedrooms are on the ground floor and all are ensuite. The more astute among you may note that there are in fact beds for 19. The rules regarding insurance and safety limit the occupation to 15 people. The upside is that there is a lot of choice and flexibility when it comes to who sleeps where. All the beds are prepared and ready for your arrival. The ground floor has a number of steps between rooms due to the slope of the outside terrain. If any guests have mobility issues it is advised to contact the owner to discuss any access issues and suitabilty.

Summary: We arrived to a lovely welcome by Malcolm. The pictures were very accurate. The farmhouse was beautiful and rustic. The views were gorgeous. We had everything we needed for a group family stay. Shops weren’t too far away. Thank you Malcom it was fab.

Summary: We had a wonderful 2 weeks at Chez Fauret. Thank you Malcolm for your welcome and your hospitality . A lovely tranquil spot, with the possible exception of late night music once a week from the adjacent Chez Gigi restaurant.!Lovely clean pool, perfect for all the family. As long as you ask Malcolm, he’ll give you advice as to where to go to get the most from the area. Lovely beaches, historic cities, fab Chateaus. We were lucky to find Chez Fauret, and with just 7, and then 5 of us, there were still plenty of empty beds!! As long as you have a car and are happy to drive, it’s a perfect place for family hols, and having such a genial and helpful host really made it better . We loved getting to know you, and the cats as well!! Merci Malcolm

Summary: We, a group of 4 families, spent 14 days in July 2018 in this beautiful and very charming house. Malcom was there for us at all times and extremely friendly. The view from the garden is gorgeous, the pool wonderful refreshing and in the house everything is in stock what you need for a relaxing holiday. We have many excursions, there is a lot to explore in the area but have also spent very comfortable days by the pool. A highlight is the restaurant Chez Gigi next door, where you can eat wonderfully in a very cozy atmosphere and also on the weekend mostly live music is played. We also loved the cats and the village dog Domino and fell in love with this beautiful piece of earth with its very relaxing inhabitants. The house is extremely tastefully decorated and Malcom can tell a lot about the history of this house. We will always like to think of our time there. Thank you very much for everything.

Summary: Our host Malcolm had quite the project to restore this historic property to modern standards, but he has turned it into a good representation of French country casual: original stone walls and wooden beams, but with en suite baths in all bedrooms (very welcome), and a large combined kitchen and dining area in which we spent a great deal of our time. It would be very suitable for groups considerably larger than our 6, as the large bedrooms with multiple beds would easily accommodate a dozen or more - a great option for several families with children. For touring, while the Pyrenees and Basque country require some determined driving, the rest of the area was readily accessible. Our visits included Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Saint Emilion, the Arcachon bay, Angouleme, La Rochefoucauld, and others - without spending too much of the day in the car. Malcolm was a very congenial host, with both advice and stories of the area, and of the property's interesting history. We recommend this property fully - not as a luxury accommodation! - but as a solid example of country living, for groups of at least 6 or more.

Summary: We stayed at Chez Fauret for one week. We were three families, with four young children between us. We had a delightful time. The house is very large, and afforded privacy for each family. At the same time, it was sufficiently large to have all three families in the kitchen to enjoy a meal. There was ample space in the outside (and around the pool) for children to play. Te view over the valley from the back of the house is wonderful. Malcolm is a very fine host. Attentive and accommodating, but largely unseen. Montendre is a short drive a way, which we found convenient for runs to the market, etc. My wife and I have stayed at vacationn properties in many places and this was as nice and smoothly run as any. Highly recommended.

Summary: We were three couples with children and stayed for a week. It was an amazing gite, incredibly spacious with plenty of living space for everyone. The kids had a blast playing with the kittens and out in the garden (while grown ups played bacci) although the weather was a bit too cold to brave the unheated pool. We were a 10 minute drive from a big intermarche in montendre and made meals at the house regularly. Next door the restaurant chez Gigi was fantastic - really great atmosphere. Malcolm offered to babysit the kids!! We would happily stay here again.

Summary: Well equipped spacious property. Pool just outside the back door is so convenient. Wonderful views. Ideal location for visiting beaches, big towns and the vineyards. Lovely market in Montendre. Will be back! Highly recommended.

Summary: We booked this gite for a family group of 13, including 5 children, whilst we were attending a wedding nearby. It was ideal for our purposes - there is loads of space inside and out, and the owner, who lives on site,could not have been more helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!

Summary: We booked this house for a weekend for a family gathering and it was ideal. It is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside - all the rooms are vast and suited us perfectly with 4 couples and 5 children we had ample space. The kids loved playing in the garden and the pool area is lovely with beautiful views. The house is well equipped and furnished and very comfortable. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful and we would definitely consider staying here again. The only thing that could have improved the experience would have been some written directions to the property plus maybe a sign to the house at the turning up to it to help those with unreliable satnavs!
