Hello My Traveling Friend,
Welcome to the Barn Swallow, our beloved Dairy Barn!
This fully updated and accessible first floor lodging accommodates 4 guests (and two pets) of all ages and abilities. We do not allow cats however due to allergy issues. We do require our guests to crate your dog when you have left the house. We have (2) 3x4 crates for your use.
Enjoy comfort and privacy inside and 11.5 country acres outside, close to restaurants, Tanger Outlet, hospitals, Gun Lake casino, Grand Rapids, and much more.
The 1st level of our Barn House is perfect for family vacations or simply gathering with friends. The four-bedroom and two-bedroom options are never rented out at the same time to provide our guests with privacy, exactly what they need, and two pricing options.
We also do not rent out the 2nd and 3rd floors as this is our home too. Because we have self check-in and coded locks, we rarely see or hear our guests unless they need to contact us.
What Is the Barn Swallow Manor?
Built in the early 1900s, the original dairy barn and horse stable was fully converted in 2008-2009 and updated in the summer of 2022. The property boasts 11.5 charming country acres with beautiful views and a creek running through the center. Feel free to walk our fields and see turkeys, hawks, crane, deer, and possibly a bald eagle.
The Space: You will have the entire FIRST floor and lodging is completely separate from the rest of the house and surrounded by farmland and very few neighbors.
Handicap Accessibility: The house is accessible for people of all abilities. Built with every situation in mind, this home has 36” doors, is step free and barrier free, and has a powerlift reclining chairs. Bathing is easy with an oversized shower and walk-in tub. If you need a shower chair, please ask ahead of your stay.
Energy Efficient: The house is built with Earth friendly “green features” including energy efficient windows, closed cell spray foam insulation, and geothermal heating/cooling forced air with energy efficient in-floor radiant heat. Even in the worst of weather you will have electricity with our whole house backup generator.
Family Friendly: We provide two roll away cribs, a pack & play, changing table, highchair, baby utensils, plastic kid bowls and bib. Two of the bedrooms have chairs that turn into beds, perfect for a child to sleep in their parents' room.
Bedrooms: Spread out into four bedrooms. The four queen beds and one king bed each have four pillows with two different levels of comfort and extra blankets. Touch lamps are at most bedsides. All nightstand lamps have USB ports.
Bathrooms: The two full bathrooms and one half-bath are fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, and hair dryers.
Kitchen: The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your food, plus a closet full of extras like a blender for smoothies, George Foreman grill, waffle maker, Instant Pot, crock pot, and electric griddle.
Dining Area: Seat 10-12 people around the table. Enjoy the coffee bar with a Keurig and complimentary K-cups.
Living Room: This spacious area has two couches, four comfortable loungers, and a workstation perfect for longer stays and business trips. Kick back with the Roku and plenty of movies and books.
Den: This smaller area is stocked with several games, houses a desk with a printer, and offers comfortable seating.
Laundry: Take advantage of the washer and detergent, dryer, iron and ironing board.
3-Season Porch: This 12x3’ room is private/unshared and comfortably furnished.
Fenced Back Yard: Enjoy a walking/jogging track and the lush lawn, perfect for a game of Corn Hole.
A true home away from home!
The entrance to the First floor accommodations is through the front door which has a digital code, once you are in the foyer there is a second coded door to your private space. Parking is out front and the pole barn and garage is not a part of the rental.

Summary: The pictures didn’t do it justice. It was a beautiful space and so roomy. My family loved all of the movies and amenities. I really liked how kid friendly it was. Summary: Ad Accuracy/Arrival: The description and pictures do not do this place justice! I stayed here for 3 days and two nights with my kids when we came up for a ballet event at the Peter Martin We've Theater @ Grand Rapids Ballet. We were bowled over the moment we pulled in the driveway. There's just no way the pictures can really convey the actual size of this space and it is SO PRETTY!!! Space: Normally a place of this size would seem sparse and spartan but Valerie and Brendan have just went all the way with making this space into a comfortable and well appointed home. Amenities: There is nothing, and I mean nothing missing. Shampoo, conditioner and soap in the shower; stocked towels and toilet paper; laundry detergent and dishwasher soap; full range of cutlery and dishware; every appliance and service accessory you can imagine (keurig, iced tea maker, four slice toaster, pitchers and carafes, tea service etc.) and a large variety of coffee, teas, sweeteners, condiments etc. The bedrooms have extremely comfortable beds and the fold out twin beds are actually comfortable! Between all of the cabinets and amenities, it's like there's a miniature Bed Bath & Beyond store neatly tucked into this house! My kids my hours playing games from the massive selection in the second living room (because who doesn't have two living rooms?) and an equal amount of time devising ways to extend our stay 🤣 the dog crates in the three seasons room were such a convenience! Exterior: There is an actual concrete sidewalk style walking path out back in a fully fenced in backyard. The beautiful stainless steel grill on the back porch is no doubt going to be awesome for the summer and the benches convert into picnic tables! Host/Hostess: Valerie was absolutely one of the kindest and most patient hosts to date!!! She even came down and met our fur babies and we chatted for quite a while; she told us the history of the home and how it came to be, which was so lovely! She messaged me back within 5 minutes each time I reached out to her. Valerie and Brendan are amazing! Overall: We didn't want to leave! We're already planning on a return trip just to have fun at the house! 10/10 A+
