Churchdown is a beautiful large Victorian family home in Chippenham – a perfect location for exploring the wonderful Wiltshire towns, villages and countryside. For example the lovely villages of Castle Combe and Lacock are both within a few miles, while historic Georgian Bath is easy and quick to get to either by car (13 miles) or by train (15 minutes from Chippenham Station which is just 5 minutes walk away).
The Designer Outlet Village in Swindon is also close - one junction along the M4, or a 15 minute train journey.
The extremely dog friendly house sits in a fully walled garden of about 1/3 of an acre, with beautiful walks along the river Avon a couple of hundred yards from the door. There are four substantial bedrooms - three double with at least king size beds, and one twin. The master bedroom has a four-poster bed and stunning travertine tiled en-suite bathroom with cast iron bath and separate shower. The attic bedroom is perfect for several children.
There are three separate rooms to relax in: a more formal drawing room complete with organ (the foot pumps mean you can get lots of exercise too!); the 30 ft long garden room with french doors leading to the wooden decked terrace, and the sitting room with wood-burning stove, as well as HD television, Sky, DVD player X-Box and wi-fi hub. You are welcome to read any of the few hundred books available, or maybe try one of the board games or jigsaw puzzles in the games cupboard.
The dining room comfortably seats 8 around its oak table, and the kitchen is a cook’s paradise, equipped with an Aga, as well as a four-ring gas hob and gas oven and the separate utility area has a second sink, washing machine, and two large fridge freezers available for your use. If you want a break from self-catering there are a number of pubs and take-aways in Chippenham itself, and we can also recommend a number of local village pubs and restaurants within a 10 mile radius from simple to Michelin starred.

Summary: We so enjoyed our stay. The house is roomy and cozy at the same time. The kitchen had everything we needed plus a lovely kit to get us on the right foot the first night there. There are plenty of choices in walking distance for meals and light shopping. A charming neighborhood. Would absolutely stay in the house again!

Summary: Fantastic communication with owner throughout. Very well- equipped with plenty of space inside and out for 8 of us with 3 dogs. Very central location with lovely riverside walks from across the road. There is a reasonable amount of traffic noise but this was made clear before our stay and didn’t affect our enjoyment.

Summary: Just the perfect house for my family with literally everything you need. I highly recommend this home as Andrew made every effort to make sure his guests were fully satisfied. The garden was totally private and secure enabling our dog to roam and play at his leisure. The main dwelling was fabulous whereby everyone could relax and chill. I will definitely be booking this home again in the future. You won't be disappointed thanks guys

Summary: Just back from a 6 adult, 1 dog family break. It was a great house for this. All four bedrooms are very spacious and pleasant. Very good showers. So excellent sleeping/bathroom facilities. The kitchen is great, so well equipped; everything you need many times over. 4 reception rooms - the dining table took 6 adults very comfortably, we moved one settee from the front room into another lounge so we could all sit together. Garden is so attractive and completely dog friendly. In warmer weather we would have sat out there, a nice garden table and chairs set. Again for 6 if I recall, but we didn't use it so I might have that wrong. Yes it's on a busy road on one side but this did not bother us at all. A very quiet road at the back so parking was not a problem. (There is some parking with the property, we arrived in 4 separate cars but even so it was not an issue). My only gripe. It is obviously lived in and there is a lot of personal belongings in wardrobes/bathroom etc. Not too bad. But didn't like the opened fruit juice and water left in the fridge, bits of used butter etc. Not great in these covid times. However 2 big fridge/freezers so I moved all the open stuff to one fridge and used the other. Very prompt and friendly responses from the owners.
