Positive: Perfect base to visit this part of the Pyrenees. Having lunch on top of the world , was our highlight. Patrick was on hand for requests. ie booking horse riding , viewpoints and booking restaurants. We were made to feel very welcome.

Positive: We really enjoyed our 4-night stay at this lovely guesthouse on the river in the town of Bagnères de Luchon. The owner (our host) Patrick was very welcoming, helpful, and informative – he gave us great advice on several excellent hikes in the area, restaurants and things to see and do after we left Luchon, along the way to Pau. He also served a delicious breakfast each morning, with fresh breads from the boulangerie, blueberries picked nearby, fresh-squeezed orange juice, tea/coffee and if we chose, eggs (with goat cheese and honey). The house (a large old home divided into big suites) is decorated with all kinds of interesting furniture and older artworks, and our suite was big and gorgeous – with huge floor-to-ceiling windows, a big front room/sitting area with small fridge and TV, and large bedroom and bathroom. It was extremely comfortable. Our little balcony looked right over the gushing river below, and when the clouds permitted, we could see snow-capped mountains in the distance. Luchon is a nice little town, in a good location to explore the surrounding area – including Hospice de France (incredible hikes), the Lac d’Oo and its 3 lakes hike, walks from the top of the ski area (cable car to Super Bagnères), and is near the Col de Peyresourde, Col du Tourmalet and many other famous cycling climbs. We were lucky to watch the Tour de France come racing through Luchon town on July 14, after they descended the Peyresourde. We highly recommend this great “chambres d’hotes” guesthouse and would definitely stay there again (we will go back when the "Thermes" are reopened after their renovation). Thank you Patrick!

Positive: This is more than a B&B, it's a home from home. Our room turned out to be a full apartment, so we had large bedroom, large sitting room, a modern clean kitchen, a utility room with washing machine and dryer, and a modern, clean bathroom and a narrow balcony overlooking river and hills. Patrick, who runs Le 41 with his charming wife, is super friendly and was full of ideas for walks. Breakfast took place every day on the terrace next to a roaring river, and Patrick cooked us omelettes with goats cheese and honey, and tested my French conversational skills every morning, telling us all about the area and his own history there. The bed was super comfortable, the breakfast delicious, and the croissants that we could not eat at breakfast were pressed upon us to take on our walks. Le 41 is in easy walking distance of cafes and bars, and there is a supermarket right next door.. Bagneres itself is a pleasant small town, not at all overrun with tourists, and at the heart of great walking country.
