Positive: Everything and the fact that our room got upgraded

Negative: The double bed in our room had a large ditch in the middle of the bed which started to hurt our backs later into our stay

Positive: The location is great with views over the sea. It is far away from the busy parts of the island, and you will not encounter any of the sex tourists here (a reason we chose this place as we had heard this is a serious issue in Nosy Be). The distance from the main town may be an issue if you wanted to go on excursions, but we didn't as it was a quick stop off before heading elsewhere. The restaurant and pool area are nice and a good place to hang out for a day. There's plenty to entertain older children with a pool table, book exchange, board games and a track down to a rocky beach (a few hundred metres). The restaurant staff were lovely, but spoke very little English - though they did try. The fresh lemonade is delicious.

Negative: We booked a family bungalow, based on the specific photos we were shown of the room when making room selection (different photos were shown of each option). What we got did not match the photos at all. The room was much smaller, and the kids adjoining room was a glorified prison cell in size with bunk beds and an extra single bed squeezed in. When I questioned this, the manager was very grumpy and defensive refusing to acknowledge what we had booked didn't match what we got. It turned out the family room shown in the photos when booking was undergoing renovations and instead we were given a much smaller, tired room. The double bed is in an alcove with no space either side. The bathroom is very small for five people sharing with little space to hand 5 towels or place 5 washbags. We were offered an even worse option when I complained. The whole place could do with a bit of a face-lift for it to meet the standards shown in the photos. It felt a bit like it had seen better days. The breakfast orders were muddled each day. We didn't eat at the restaurant, rather ate at a local place near the turning (Georgio's ?) which was excellent and good value.

Positive: The hotel was a lovely jungle setting with helpful staff. Food was delicious and pool was lovely looking out to the ocean.

Negative: We were travelling with a 3 mo baby - the apartments and reception weren't too easy to get back and forth too, steep and stoney. The hotel has 3 photos of local beaches and the hotel is listed as beachfront which unfortunately was not the case. There was a stone beach 10 minute downhill walk away which was not doable with a baby.

Summary: Beautiful jungle get away.

Positive: The common area was a lovely place to relax. The bar and food’s menu was great and the staff and owners are very kind.

Negative: Although it says it has access to the beach, it’s quite a walk but the beach is not good for leisure. It’s wild and deserted, not ideal for spending time. I ended spending more time by the pool.

Summary: The staff was very welcoming and accommodating and the food and bar offering is great. The common area was very vibrant.
