The "Chalet di Cher' is an ancient stone stable renovated with great care with the support of an architect from Milan.
The Chalet is inserted in the chestnut wood of Cher located above Gera Lario and has an unforgettable view of Lake Como.
Chalet di Cher was built with great attention to environmental sustainability and has been certified by Cestec as buildings in energy consumption class B (between 31-50 Kwh/m2 per year).
Interior of houses
The result of the renovation is surprising, the apartments are real gems full of charm. They are bright and with a fantastic view over the valley. The Chalet has been furnished to be practical and comfortable. There is a lot of wood and stonework and the ceilings are beamed. The design and the colors will make you feel at home. This small private is prefect for those who want a peaceful escape. It is also particularly suitable for families with children. The owner lives in Monza, but regularly uses the apartements for his holidays and consequently the Chalet has been equipped with particular care and is carefully maintained.

The lawns under the house allow children to play safely. The beautiful view of the lake and the mountains can be enjoyed from all three apartments of the Chalet: Papere, Tartarughe and Campanelle.
All terraces and porches are well equipped with wooden tables and chairs and lounging chairs inviting you to spend the whole day gazing at the view.
The house has a stone barbecue area for guests to experience their culinary art. In the forest of Cher, just 300 meters from the house, there is the Sorico stream, an uncontaminated stream with natural pools where you can relax and cool off.

The Montemezzo area is very safe. You can park in the garden behind the house (1 car per apartment) or park your car in the parking lot on the provincial road at the beginning of via Cher.
Via Cher is the path of about 93 meters that leads to the Chalet. There is also a larger car park near the church of San Martino (about 200 meters from the start of via Cher). Via Cher ends at the characteristic Cher's Chalet which makes the place absolutely peaceful.

Shops are in Gera Lario.
If you are a good hiker you can also go to the village without using the car because there is an ancient path (about 2 km) that takes you to Gera Lario where you can find a supermarket, grocery stores, a bakery and restaurants. In Gera Lario there is also a large swimming pool with many sports equipment and a small port.

Summary: Lovely welcome package - helpful guide from the owner and beautiful views. Comfortable sleeping for seven guests and good cooking appliances and cutlery. Lots to do in area and close to boat hire and water sports hire places. Good restaurants nearby in Sorico. The natural spring is quite challenging to get to but a good adventure. No complaints - would recommend!

Summary: Recommend it to anyone. We had Le Pepere which has 2 bedrooms (one with a double and one with double, overhead single and another single bed, a mezzanine single bed and a bed in the living room. It was great foe the nights we spent there with fantastic views. Parking is 'interesting' and it's relatively difficult to find. Can walk to the nearest restaurant (25 mins) or to the town (35-40 mins). Double it on the way back up the steep hill. The river with its waterfalls and pools is great fun, look out for local snakes (may be venomous) and scorpions (harmless). Way to it from the house is not easy

Summary: beautiful views, clean and amazing place. Local dipping in the mountain river superb. Owner and cleaner so very helpful and kind when there was an initial problem (not their fault) and went above and beyond to solve it and make amends. Really impressive and will return one day. Make sure you take a dip in the lower falls 'jacuzzi'.

Summary: We had a good vacation, but we were disappointed with the stay. check-in process was difficult and had to obtain the keys with a code and all meter readings had to be passed on. We did not know beforehand which house we would get. the route to the house is also very dangerous, especially the last part is very steep and you can easily shoot next to the road with a car, my car is even damaged at the bottom. The beds were also of moderate quality when moving the bed creaked every time. All this is price-quality not in proportion.

Summary: For our first stay on Lake Como, we were so happy to end up in Paolo's lovely property on the northern side of the lake. Prior to our visit, we knew very little about the layout of the towns and geography. Now that we do, we felt the northern, quiet location, elevated above the lakefront was perfect for rest and relaxation with small children, while still being convenient and accessible to all the amenities of the area. The location of the house is quite far (1-2 hours by car) from the hustle, bustle and glamour of the southern villages near Como, which suited us perfectly. If your interests align more with sports and the outdoors, while still being convenient to great restaurants and some of the less well-known and glamorous sights of the Lake region, I highly recommend Paolo's property. We were delighted to find ourselves basically in the forest with a hiking trail and stream just behind the house. The apartment La Papere, which is one of three on the property, was compact but with plenty of room for our family, well equipped and comfortable. The views are stunning from the several large windows and ample terrace looking over the northern end of the lake and river mouths towards Valchiavenna and eventually Switzerland. Paolo was an attentive and responsive host, who provides excellent recommendations and detailed information about all the activities and sights that Lake Como has to offer. In short, we had everything we needed for an excellent first visit and we cannot wait to return and explore the area more.
