Summary: Just returned from another wonderful stay at Le Prieure. The cottage was just perfect for our family of 4, beautifully decorated, spotless, very comfortable. The kids (9 & 8) loved spending a day at the house, as plenty to keep them entertained with the pool, table tennis, pool, boules, badminton. Also enjoyed many days out and about in the region, with plenty of places to visit within a short distance / easy drive. Peter and Marie were amazing hosts, the best we’ve ever experienced. This was our second trip, and we plan to be back for more.

Summary: This was an amazing property, part of a beautiful residence with three holiday lets, set in the quiet little village of Chervettes. We stayed in Rosina cottage, the largest of the lets. The cottage was spacious and very comfortable, very well appointed and with our own private area for barbeques to the rear of the property. Everything was provided and catered for with a stunning pool, games barn, pool table and wonderful grounds. Peter and Marie were the most accommodating hosts, they live in the large house but encourage you to treat the space as your own and are always around to provide advice about the area or just a great chat about their interesting lives, art, music and property! There was ample to do for our two teenage sons but Le Preiure also gave us he opportunity to really relax and get away from our hectic lives. La Rochelle was only 30 minutes or so away and we also enjoyed exploring the Ile d'Oleron. The nearest town of Surgeres was really interesting with a old chateau and ramparts to explore plus supermarkets to get all your requirements. There is so much more to do and see that we would love to return on another occasion. Thank you for a really wonderful holiday - we loved it!

Summary: A perfect hideaway from a busy life - from moment you drive into the enclosed walled garden you feel you are somewhere special. The jovial welcome from the charismatic Peter was just wonderful and he could not be more helpful. The pool area is spectacular with the secret little pool room next door. We also made good use of the table tennis barn and played ball games on the front lawn. The private BBQ area with Rosina property is also an ideal spot to unwind. It is difficult to fault this holiday!

Summary: As a Family of four, 2 adults and 2 teenage boys we travelled up to Cottage Rosina, part of Maison de Maitre in the Charente region of France. We arrived well ahead of time and were immediately greeted by Peter. What Peter and Marie have done with this arrangement of properties is stunning. There has been a huge amount of renovation, extensions and improvements an all done in the traditional Charantaise style. Everything had been well planned and thought out. Every day we marvelled at the exterior lay out of the surrounding, garden, walls, out buildings, even down to the pool and its surrounding. Cottage Rosina, was spacious and well equipped and finished to a high standard with some quirky art which all adds to the appeal. Having the added benefit of a washing machine and dishwasher just makes holiday life so much easier. Bedrooms were adequate with plenty of storage and there is a really handy large airing cupboard where you can store your cases etc once emptied. Towels and bedding are all of a high standard and provided although it was a hot week weather wise and a lighter duvet would have been better, although I am sure if I requested this it would have been provided. The 2 cottages can be linked via a door at the top of the stairs if you are holidaying / travelling with more people or 2 families. The back of the cottage had a lovely private gravelled terrace which caught the evening sun and was equipped with a Barbeque. As well as this it seems Peter and Marie give you free run of the gardens to picnic and dine Al Fresco wherever you wish. The pool and surrounding area was always spotless with quality sun loungers and chairs (No Glass rule poolside makes total sense). There was also a large converted barn equipped with Table Tennis, Badminton and pool table - a great place for the kids to chill out on an evening while the parents indulge in the delights of French wine! The location is 'Rural' so don't expect nightlife, amusement arcades and fish and chips! You have to create your own entertainment. Locally, Surgeres is about 5 km away and has everything you need, Supermarkets, a great fish / veg market in the centre and bustling village culture. with La Rochelle about 20 miles Finally.....Peter and Marie themselves are a fantastically friendly couple who are always there to help, advise or just to chat to but are never intrusive in anyway. We had a fantastic time at Cottage Rosina and are definitely planning on returning.

Summary: We are family of 4 with 2 young teenagers. We stayed for a week in Rosina. The owner met us and was friendly, approachable and very casual about the kids using all the outdoor areas. The cottage is in a very quiet hamlet, the grounds of the property are very attractive, with well kept garden areas, the pool area was very well maintained. The downstairs of the cottage was good, well equipped and clean(ish), english channel TV,my son loved the décor, to me it was odd and out of keeping with the cottage (too much black, with cow skin rug and big canvas paintings). The outside seating area is small but okay, nothing special, but you do have access to all of the gardens. The upstairs let this cottage down, very 'pokey', tired, old furniture, limited space. All of it was okay but certainly not luxurious by any means. The upstairs lacks attention to detail, and with a little time and thought for what clients need this could easily be corrected (I have spoken to the owner about this and he is very understanding and has said in September the property is due an update and thorough clean). the photos of the interior I feel are very flattering! (and misleading). You need a car staying here. We had some lovely drives around the area. There is a big supermarket in Surgeres which also has several bars and restaurants. 2 great days out to Il de Re, drive took about 1.25hours to get onto island. La Rochelle well worth a visit, about 50 mins drive and also Chattelion de Plage. We didn't have hot weather so we didn't use the pool but it is a great facility with inflatables and my children really liked the games room with the table tennis, badminton, and bikes. I cant change the star rating for this property for some reason but its not 5 star.

Summary: We were a family of 4 (boys aged 12 and 9 years) staying for 1 week (having booked 2 city stopovers on the way down and 2 stopovers on the way back). We have been to France many times but never to this region. We were attracted to the different region (for a change), elegant house and the use of a shared pool. The accommodation was as described and suited us perfectly. The downstairs is open plan and spacious (no clutter). The outside eating area is private and sheltered, which was great as we bbq'd most nights. The landscaping around the properties is lovely and the smell of lavender wonderful. The use of the pool was great for all the family. We went in the pool daily after our day's outing. We never actually had to share the pool, as our neighbours used it at other times. The boys enjoyed the games room, both the table tennis and the use of the piano (our 9 yr old has never played the piano so keenly!) We took our own bikes and enjoyed 3 cycles (part of the Atlantic coast outside La Rochelle, Ile de Re via the toll bridge and from the house to Surgeres). We went to Chatelaillon beach (good for collecting mussels), beaches at Fouras and Ile de Re (good for rock pooling - found sea slugs). We had an enjoyable holiday and would gladly recommend this venue.
