Marmot Cabin | Little House On The Mountain-ZigZag Mountain View

1 Bedroom Cabin in Marmot, Rhododendron

Relax and unwind in our custom built, one-of-kind cabin. The cabin is nestled up on a forested hill above our main cabin. It's sits on 4 acres of private wooded land, bordering Mt. Hood National Forest Land. A perfect getaway for couples looking to spend a romantic weekend in the woods or a home-base for those who are here to enjoy everything Mt. Hood has to offer. Hiking, fishing, skiing are only minutes away!
The Space:
*** In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, we want to assure our guests of our extremely thorough cleaning regiment. All frequently touched surfaces (counters, doorknobs, switches, handles, toilets, remotes, etc) are cleaned with an EPA registered disinfectant and all linens/towels are washed in hot water.***
Carefully curated and thoughtfully designed, this little cabin is decorated with art and furniture from local artisans. The cabin has an open floor plan with an extra cozy sleeping loft equipped with a queen sized bed, comfy reading chair and a TV for watching movies. The living room has a comfortable plush sofa and perfect views while lounging by the wood-burning stove. The kitchenette offers you everything you need to dine-in — an electric oven/range, toaster, and coffee maker. The outside space features a large outdoor fire pit with beautiful views of the forest and ZigZag mountain.
For groups with three guests -- additional linens, pillows and blankets will be provided upon request for the sofa (not a pull-out, but comfy to sleep on -- great option for those traveling with children). Also, in the summer months, there is plenty of room to pitch a tent outdoors.
***Please note -- The drive up from the road to the cabin is steep. You WILL need an AWD or 4WD to get to the top in a vehicle (we have a VW Tiguan and make it up fine). If you have a 2WD car, there will be a cargo sled to haul your belongings up the hill. It's approximately 200 ft. from the road.
**We will provide wood for one night. Additional wood can be purchased at the Thriftway or Mt. Hood Grocery, both are one mile down the road.
*There is a steep loft ladder that leads to the bedroom. Not recommended for those who have trouble climbing.

Summary: The moment you walk in the door you feel right at home. The rustic decor is so well done. While the cabin is small, it is laid out well and has just about everything you need. The outdoor fire pit was so nice. We sat around the campfire every night and enjoyed the serene, forested setting. Thanks for the fun stay!

Summary: I really wanted to leave this review, because the little cabin is absolutely amazing. It's super accessible, not far off the main highway, but manages to feel very secluded and peaceful. I think I sat for an entire hour listening to the fire (in the most stunning stove I've ever seen) and staring out the rear window into the forest. For me, as an able bodied petite 33 year old woman, I had no problem carrying my items for a two night stay up the driveway. It's very short and I feel like some folks might be exaggerating the difficulty. I didn't use the sled, knowing that I would need to carry my items I packed my food in a backpack cooler and clothes in a sturdy tote. I even carried wood log fire starters! The cabin had everything I need to make my meals, aside from an oven. Everything is as portrayed in the photos. I found the stair/ladder to the loft very easy to climb. It wasn't a narrow or tight space. Susan was very nice and responsive. I never met her in person, but she gave me good advice on where to get a couple supplies and helped me find my way when google maps led me astray. I could get some cell reception at the cabin. I came planning to read, but I was able to share some photos of my getaway on social media.

Summary: We really enjoyed the cabin and privacy. The only negative comment I would make is accessing the cabin without a 4 wheel drive. We got quite the workout bringing our stuff up a very steep inclined loose rock road. The owner have a plastic boat with a rope to use to lug it up. [We didnt have a four wheel drive] the woman owner was not helpful or accommodating to assist us. They just watched us struggled up three times with wood bundles and coolers, ect. So we thought that was weird. We loved their doggy dog. Sweetest as sweetest could possibly be. MJ and Amanda

Summary: My children and I LOVED this property. Before leaving I looked up to see if the property was available in the next few weeks... I liked it that much. I'll be coming back soon.
