Summary: We loved our stay at La Basse Cour next to the Château de La Barbée. It was an idyllic setting and a wonderful base to explore the area from. The zoo nearby at La Flèche was a favourite alongside the many Châteaux in the area. Mary was a fantastic host, a great communicator, and very attentive. It was really great to be so close to the château yet also feel very private. We’d love to return again at some point in the future!

Summary: Our time at La Basse Cour was perhaps the best holiday we have ever had. The farmhouse is authentic, charming, and idyllic, dating back hundreds of years and yet beautifully and tastefully renovated, with lovely upgrades that highlight the charm and preserve the history. The grounds are heavenly, and we spent much of our time taking long walks with the children, exploring and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The countryside here is simply stunning, and there is something very special about the light. Many evenings were spent dining al fresco, with lit candles and vases of fresh flowers from the fields. The linens were extremely soft and the mattresses were very comfortable. We slept so well! The home is fully equipped with everything you need to make you feel at home. The nearby town of Bazouges is just lovely with most everything you need, and there’s also nearby La Fleche and Angers for more sightseeing. The host, Mary, was absolutely wonderful - kind, communicative, accommodating, and overall a lovely person. Leaving was difficult and we were sad to go, but we can’t wait to return! This was a magical and memorable stay we will never forget.

Summary: The period cottage was a charming and spacious property, set in stunning surroundings. The owners of the cottage and neighbouring chateau, Mary and Xavier, were on hand to provide anything we needed while there and just as importantly, were happy to leave us to ourselves when required. The cottage and adjoining land provided the perfect escape from the outside world whether you are happy sat by the pool reading or exploring the many trails in the huge area of woodland that comes with the cottage. Despite the cottage feeling hidden away from the world, the large supermarkets in La Fleche are only a five minute drive away. We will be sure to return to the cottage just as soon as we can,

Summary: We, my husband, our daughter, our two Ragdoll’s and me, had a wonderful (almost) two weeks in the old farmhouse. We arrived early Sunday morning and Mary had told us the house would be open so we could settle down. The house was a bit differend than we expected. My husband is 2.05m and parts of the house were 1.80m. After an hour or so Mary arrived and showed us around the house. She told us if we needed anything we just had to ask. The Château of the owners, Xavier and Mary, is nearby, but the farmhouse is positioned in a way you have all the privacy you want. In the garden our cats could walk around freely without escaping because it is surrounded by a wall. Outside the garden, the pool for a welcome refreshment. Big enough for the three of us. Everything located on a huge, very nice forest were you are free to go. During the day nice and quiet. In the evening you could hear the wildlife around you. Xavier and Mary are very friendly, loving and hospital. Xavier can tell you everything, in a very entertaining and enthusiastic way about the history of the Château and his family. And Mary can tell and help you with all the things to see and do in the area. Thanks Xavier and Mary for everything. We will definitely return to your lovely place!

Summary: We (including our two teenage daughters aged 14 and 17) had an amazing 2 week holiday experience at the farmhouse in August 2015. Mary and Xavia were perfect hosts, warm and friendly and on hand if we had any questions. We were encouraged to explore their extensive beautiful grounds. They even have their own chapel. The woods are lovely to walk around and at the rear end of the chateau is the Loire River which we had a swim in one day. If you stroll down the rose garden, cross one of the fairy tale bridges there is a beautiful orangery with a piano residing inside which can be played (our daughters play the piano so it was a magical experience). Izzy (their dog) is the friendliest dog we have ever met and she would often accompany us all on one of our walks and occasionally we would also see Juliette (their cat). The farmhouse was bigger than we expected from the photos and had everything we needed. It is tastefully decorated and clean. The main lounge has double doors which we would open early morning and gave us another lovely view not shown in the photos. The village Bazouges-sur-le-Loir is only a short drive away and la Fleche was the main town we visited for the supermarket. We visited Angers which has a New Orleans influence, Saumur initially to see the Troglodytes but we also went into the pretty town for lunch. Worth a visit. Paris is under 3 hours. We parked just outside of Paris at Chateau de Vincennes with no problems accessing the subway from here and no parking costs. I would recommend this property to all ages.

Summary: We stayed in this beautiful farmhouse for 2 weeks and immediately wished we could have stayed longer. It's very green, peaceful, charming and private. Only a short drive (some only 5-10 minutes, some places 15-30) takes you to local markets, castles, a beach (small charming lake), vineyards, a zoo, botanical gardens and lots of other fun, interesting or practical places.. Our 2 young children loved the house, the garden, the pool, the fantastic surroundings and of course feeding the donkey and the horse carrots everyday. The house has all the basics you need, a beautiful fireplace and a true historic value & feel.. Mary & Xavier (The owners) are absolutely lovely, very flexible and helpful in every way. We will definitely come back!

Summary: We had a truely lovely holiday at LaBasseCour. The house is full of character and the garden and grounds of the Chateau really relaxing away from the crowds. Much to our dogs delight we had several close encounters with deer as we walked in the woods right next to the house.
