3 Bedroom Cottage in Town Lots, Bantry

The cottage was built in the early 19th Century and is reputedly the oldest in Bantry. We renovated it a few years ago and fitted new doors, floors, roof and windows while retaining as much as possible of the original character. There are wood floors throughout and a large kitchen diner to seat six. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, hob, washing machine, tumble dryer and Stanley traditional range cooker. The cosy but spacious living room will seat six and has a coal/log fire. The futon sofa will convert to a single bed and there is an additional guest mattress. There are three bedrooms, two double and one single. The single bedroom is accessed through one of the double bedrooms. The bathroom has a large cast iron bath and a shower, and an immersion heater for hot water. All the bedrooms have pleasant views of the countryside of West Cork. Outside there is a patio enclosed by a ‘living wall’ full of flowers and birds nests. Upstairs is a sunny roof terrace with views over Bantry.
Festivals: In 2019: the West Cork Chamber Music Festival takes place in Bantry from June 28 to July 8; the West Cork Literary Festival is held in Bantry) from July 12–21; the ‘Masters of Tradition is a five-day festival held each August in Bantry featuring a series of performances covering the full spectrum of Irish traditional music. In 2019 the dates are 20-25th August. Sessions are held at Bantry House All of them are very popular, reasonable priced and highly recommended. Music pubs: Several local pubs in Bantry, Glengariff and Ballydehob host lively traditonal Irish music sessions
Horse Riding: Zora Feurer has a livery yard just outside Bantry, with around twenty lively and attractive horses. She will give lessons and take riders with previous experience out on hacks.I'll be happy to provide her contact details.

Summary: What a great location! At the edge of town and a short walk to the pubs and shops. Really enjoyed our stay in Bantry. Convenient to so many places. You must visit Ma Murphy's! The greatest pub in Ireland, I'm sure!! Enjoyed our trip around the Ring of Beara - less busy than the Ring of Kerry! A beautiful part of the country.

Summary: Cottage had great character and charm and beds were comfy! Short walk to town where we spent time at Ma Murphys (best pub in town) and had the best takeout fish and chips so far in Ireland. Would highly recommend!

Summary: Robert was extremely helpful throughout and made the whole process so simple. The property is excellent and well located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. This was a lovely break with lots of fantastic walks nearby. Highly recommended.

Summary: After spending two weeks there, we can say that looking at the photos on this website it’s not possible to realise how pleasant is staying at Bluebell Cottage. The house is not just comfortable and well equipped, it also has its own welcoming atmosphere that makes it. Particularly, we found delightful the kitchen, the living room and the terrace. We haven’t enjoyed enough the house just because outside there was so much to see. West Cork is in fact so rich in wonderful places; for instance I suggest climbing the Priest’s Leap, a true mountain pass just outside Bantry, a place apparently remote and lost in time, difficult to find in tourist guides. A plus of the accommodation is the proximity to the supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars in Bantry. We hadn’t the occasion to know Robert in person, but in our correspondence we found him at once friendly and absolutely clear and helpful. In conclusion, we can’t but warmly recommend Bluebell cottage.

Summary: We spent a great week and were happy to relax at the cottage after a long day out. It is cosy, well located, well equipped and particularly convenient for a family. We highly recommand it! (just note that the bedrooms are upstairs)

Summary: I adored Bluebell Cottage, an older cottage where a number of the historical features of the cottage have been respectfully preserved. The host was communicative, helpful, and pleasant. The cottage was well appointed and conveniently located. I would certainly return to the cottage.
