Bienvenue to Le Petit Bosquet- a stately former wine-makers house with lovely tree-studded grounds in the Cognac region of the Charente. This lovely property is just 20 minutes from Angouleme and one hour from Bordeaux.
Le Petit Bosquet offers bright, airy and spacious rooms sleeping 9- but there is a possibility of comfortably accommodating 1 or 2 additional people. Please enquire. The house offers 3 very large, bright and inviting bedrooms with comfortable beds and crisp white linens. The rooms offer views of the formal courtyard or a more rural outlook over farm fields and trees. All guests enjoy full linen service including both bath towels and pool towels.
A large kitchen opens up to a spacious dining area encouraging leisurely breakfasts or long convivial evenings. If alfresco dining is more to your taste the comfortable covered dining patio sits within the old winemakers barn and offers views onto the leafy courtyard.
The secluded private pool and sundeck area is tucked into a sunny corner of the former winemakers barn- framed by a gorgeous original limestone wall.
There is a small orchard producing seasonal fruits such as cherries and figs which guests are welcome to. The large back garden- set within the old stone walls- provides a safe and grassy space for children to kick around a ball or set up a game of badminton.
The centre courtyard is the heart of the property- providing cozy shaded corners to sit and enjoy the views. The glorious courtyard is the perfect setting for an intense game of boules over glasses of the local wine!
There are several pretty spots for dining alfresco, plus the old grange courtyard provides the perfect spot of evening bonfires compliments of our large fire pit.
The entire property is secure with parking for 2-3 cars, and is fenced offering families with children a safe haven to relax and enjoy open space in a lovely setting. We invite you to this lovely corner of France for a peaceful, gracious and fun-filled holiday.

Summary: Beautiful property for a very enjoyable month in the Charente. The large, light and spacious house has been restored so that it retains great character and style whilst blending modern conveniences with traditional features. Lovely outside garden space surrounding the house with choice of seating areas for outdoor lounging and dining plus a great pool too. Superb organisation and communication from the owner/host who is clearly committed to ensuring that guests have the most enjoyable stay possible and was just the right level of proactive, responsive and helpful. The quiet location in a small village may not be for everyone but suited our needs, with lots of walks, interesting areas and towns nearby and Angouleme with lots of good restaurants and shops less than 30 mins away. Highly recommended, thanks again very much Patrice!

Summary: A family of 4 we have spent one great relaxing week in Le Petit Bosquet. The place is even better (and bigger) than in the pictures, beautifully renovated and with a lot of space, rooms are big. The garden is huge and very well arranged, with tables to enjoy outside lunch, darts, jeu de boules, BBQ, ... The swimming pool area is great also. The surroundings are extremely quiet. Restaurants and supermarket are available in 10-15 min drive. Patrice and his family gave us plenty of information and welcomed us themselves despite our late arrival. We really enjoyed the week there and we will definitely come back for another stay.

Summary: We had a great couple of weeks staying here in August. The house is beautiful, well equipped and a lot bigger than we expected. There was plenty of space for all of us to be together or to have a little bit of peace and quiet on our own when needed. We made daily trips to the village shop for bread and breakfast pastries and we all loved the pool and outdoor space which our children made the most of. We had a couple of trips out but mainly stayed locally and it was the relaxing family holiday we all needed. There is a great supermarket close by in Rouillac and plenty of information in the house about local markets and ideas for days out. All in all, a great relaxing holiday in a peaceful location. Great communication with the owner… thoroughly recommended.

Summary: A lovely graceful property that is more spacious than the photographs may suggest. Property is on the edge of a small rural village with a friendly bread shop just 5 mins walk away. A good supermarket and restaurant are then 15-20 mins away in Rouillac. Superb communication from the owner who is clearly passionate to ensure your stay is excellent. Highly recommended.
