Nestled just outside the town of Atenas this is a one of a kind piece of paradise. This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house is truly an architectural masterpiece. Every detail of this design was methodically thought out to make its inhabitants able to enjoy the views and every comfort imaginable. This house is beyond a doubt luxurious! From the moment you enter the massive castle door you will know that have found something magical.
Open up the 6 sliding doors that make up the back wall of the living room, and invite the outdoors in or sit and enjoy the giant round rock wall. The 23 foot ceiling will make you feel like you are outside. You won’t be able to take your eyes off the breath taking view of the mountains and jungle below.
The kitchen is fully equipped to allow you to create your favorite meals. The stainless steel fridge has an ice maker so that your beverages will always be nice and cold!
High Speed internet access allows you to stay in touch or do a little work while vacationing in Paradise. Satellite TV is provided with a wide range of channels to be watched on the flatscreen LCD. The oversized L- shaped couch with its many pillows is the most comfortable thing you have ever sat in!
The master bedroom is equipped with a 2 person Jacuzzi tub with its own rock wall and waterfall faucet. Take in the amazing view while you soothe your worries away in the tub. In the master bathroom there is also a 2 person shower that allows each person to control their own water temperature. Swing open the large window in this shower to feel that you are taking your shower in the jungle.
Sleep like you have never slept beds are equipped with an Orthopedic Pillow Top mattress. The kind you can not feel the other person move. Bed sizes are as follows: King bed in Master. Queen in Bedroom 2 and Full in Bedroom 3
In the second washroom there is a roomy glassed in shower and a vessel sink. There is also a door that goes out to the pool - just one of the many conveniences.
The kitchen is equipped with a breakfast bar, and all of the amenities you may need to cook any gourmet meal. How about doing some BBQ on the charcoal grill by the pool!
You won’t be able to wait to take a swim in the infinity pool that is surrounded with lush tropical gardens. Along the one side of the pool there is an underwater contoured bench with a table that will allow you to sit, relax, and enjoy your favorite tropical drink in comfort while taking in the amazing view. The 24 foot infinity edge will make you feel like you are sitting on the edge of the world! Or put your lounge chair in the mirror of the pool and cool your feet while soaking up the glorious sun that Atenas has to offer.
How about a ROOF TOP PATIO! Renters of the Luxury Castle (which sleeps 6) have full use of the Guest house roof top patio. Sitting at the amazing huge wood table you have views as far as the eye can see! The guest house can be added for an additional $299 and accommodates 2 more people bring the max allowed to 8.
While you are here you will be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the wonderful wildlife that this area has to offer. Toucans, humming birds, geckos, and iguanas are just some of the interesting creatures you will be lucky enough to feast your eyes upon!
This house is a scenic 25 minute walk down the mountain into the town of Atenas. Or a 3 minute drive, but you feel like you are in the country and far from any hustle and bustle while you are at the house.

Summary: Our family with 2 parents and 3 adult kids really enjoyed our stay. The property manager was very helpful and responsive. Clean place and there was a dishwasher which we realised during our trip was a luxury. The neighbours did have some parties which we could hear but we were there at new years. Maybe other times are quieter.

Summary: Jaw dropping views, lovely open concept house with a few things to do around the area. Pretty far from La Fortuna to day trip, but doable day trips to west coast beaches.

Summary: We had a great time here. The property manager, Eunice, did a great job with helping us before we even got there, recommending drivers, massage therapists, and chefs. This property is about a half hour to 45 minutes away from the San Jose Airport. Eunice met us there to give us a tour and the keys. The view from the backyard is beautiful. Very comfortable beds, sizeable kitchen and bathrooms, etc. There is no ac in the home, but there are 3 fans on the property, and it also doesn't get overly hot as far as temperature, so you should be okay without AC. Be sure to bring bug spray as well. We definitely recommend this property.

Summary: We had an amazing time while staying at the house. We had everything we needed for a week of family, fun & relaxation. Pool, property and surrounding area was amazing. The birds woke me up daily and I watched them and cows in the distance while I had my morning coffee. It was perfect.

Summary: First off, the description and the photos listed with the property are accurate. The view is stunning and the house is both attractive and comfortable. Though it sleeps six, it felt to be the perfect size for just my wife and I. You can't go wrong with this rental for a Costa Rican adventure or romantic getaway (or both). Our only negatives (and hence the 4* rating), we're due to two issues. First was the hot tub in the master bedroom. My wife specifically picked this unit because of this (she's a soaker). It did not function properly the entire time of our stay. We contacted the property manager (who was otherwise fantastic) and she said she would send a handyman. Didn't happen. Consequently my wife was quite disappointed. The other issue was largely out of the owner's control. The house is a fair bit up a mountain just outside of Atenas in a nice upscale neighborhood. It is easy to access from the city. And it has spectacular views from the back AND from in front of the house. Due to these views from the front and its remoteness from the city, right in front of the unit has become a popular hangout for local young people to play their music, drink, socialize and do whatever. There is a gate preventing them from entering the property, but they can be loud and sometimes rude. It can be disconcerting coming home at night and finding a string of cars parked in front of your residence, all with their lights on, and at times blocking access to the property. We had the property manager call the police on Saturday night because she even stated it had become unreasonable. Though I elaborated on the negatives, don't let it take away from the overwhelming positives. The comfort, style and ambiance of the property is top notch. The reason it was only near perfect is due to those two specific issues which should be addressed.

Summary: Everything was as described on the VRBO site. Atenas charming. Oscar the driver very helpful. We didn’t allow the leaky ice maker to dampen our stay. More rain in 2 days than our home in CA gets in a year. After staying at a few other VRBOs in CR, we appreciate the little touches like having salt , pepper and sugar available in the kitchen. Recommended Tim
