Summary: This is our second stay of 3 weeks each within the past 14 months for my wife and I. We would not think of staying anywhere else while in this amazing history-laden city. Alcala has been part of my life since I lived only 4 blocks away for 3 years while stationed at Torrejon Air Base (1981-1985). This centrally-located apartment is an absolute treasure as are Miguel and Pili, the hosts. They again did everything possible to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Miguel was again there to greet us and insure our comfort. We just walked in, dropped our luggage, and knew we were home. In addition to all the creature comforts we could possibly have wanted, there were gifts of national beverage and treats. Located on the pedestrian-only Calle Mayor, just step out the front door and you are in the heart of all the city's wonderful energy. Having a fully-equipped kitchen, washing machine, air-conditioning and flat-screen TV on both the main floor and in the large bedroom loft, a complete dining area and living room, and a beautiful back terrazza, I can't think of anything else we could want for. Pili keeps the plants on the terrazza and the two front balconies that overlook the Calle Mayor in beautiful condition. Public parking is under the market just a short two blocks away. The daily charge varies according to the season. We had some special requests related to Ann's health. Our hosts went above and beyond to meet them. He and Pili live and work nearby and are available at the drop of a hat. Thank you so much once again to Pili and Miguel! We will be back again and again for as long as you will have us.

Summary: This was our third trip back to Alcala de Henares since my having lived there for 3 years while stationed at Torrejon Air Base just 10 Km west in the early 80's. In past visits, we stayed with our Spanish "family" who live right off the Plaza de Cervantes. Since that was not an option this trip, I searched for other accommodations. I could not believe my eyes when I came across this lovely fully-equipped apartment right in the heart of the city and within a few minutes walk to my family's home, the main plaza, the Universidad de Alcala, my old apartment, and all the amazing history dating back to the 15th Century. Correspondence with our host Miguel was so easy and immediate (he does respond in Spanish). The photos, listed features, and reviews appeared almost too good to be true, so I had one of my family meet with Miguel and personally view the apartment. She reported that it was all it was written up to be. I quickly cancelled the hotel reservations I had previously made right next to the university and booked this apartment for 3 weeks. We had everything we needed to prepare meals, and grocery shopping was just a short pleasant walk away. Public parking was only a couple blocks away. With air conditioning both upstairs in the loft area and downstairs in the main living area, the 90 degree-plus summer heat could be easily escaped if desired. Our day usually began with breakfast on the rear terrace. We would do a load of laundry, hang it out, and it would be dry by noon. When we stepped out of the apartment onto the pedestrian-only Calle Mayor, we were right in the heart of local shopping. Folks of all ages were either out strolling about or seated along the avenue at a table belonging to one of the many food and beverage establishments. Miguel and his wife Pili met us at the apartment to get us settled in. We were greeted with gifts of local wines and treats. They were also there the evening we departed to return our 200 Euro security deposit. But, more importantly, they were there in the midst of crisis when we managed to lock ourselves out of the apartment. Late one evening, Miguel did his best Spiderman impersonation by scaling the building from our downstairs neighbor's rear terrace onto ours to open the door and let us in. He and Pili were there with a smile and an attitude like friends coming to our rescue. The title of "Super Host" does not do justice to these wonderful folks. BEST TIME EVER! READY TO DO IT AGAIN!
