Poppy’s Cottage is a detached property set in the grounds of a large country house. Located down it’s own private lane and tucked away, this is a quiet, beautiful, hidden away escape, yet is within 15 mins drive of the centre of Exeter - Devon’s capitol city.

The well equipped cottage provides amongst its many comforts: underfloor heating, a woodburner, Egyptian cotton bed linen, Range cooker, fast WiFi, two smart TV’s (one in the twin room) for streaming Netflix etc. and access to wonderful walks from the front door. You will be welcome to enjoy some of the main house’s incredible gardens which in turn access public footpaths which lead into seven square miles of forests.
There is a fully enclosed private garden for your young children or four legged friend, along with a covered barn with table tennis and BBQ and outdoor tables and sun loungers. There is also a gym.
Accommodation includes One Master with En suite shower room. Two further bedrooms, one twin and and with king size bed, all good sizes. There is also a substantial marble tiled family bathroom upstairs with double ended bath and separate luxury power shower. There is an additional bathroom downstairs so three in total.
A wood burning stove with logs in the sitting room, a full kitchen with island and bar stools, separate dining room with underfloor heating, separate snug with desk area, and downstairs bathroom.

Poppy’s Cottage is newly renovated throughout and provides a warm welcoming space to relax in. We are delighted our guests so far have been so lovely about their stays and glad to see some returning. The house does offer a unique, secluded setting to unwind as a family, with total privacy and only the sounds of nature, along with access to the most stunning gardens. You are welcome to explore an additional 12 acres of our gardens and grounds with some unique plants and stunning floral displays.
We know all the local farm shops, supplying meat, fish, vegetables, takeaway foods (even locally made Middle Eastern meals which are our favourite) local game pies and even seafood, all delivered to the door. Waitrose and Tescos, Sainsbury's all deliver here. This is a cottage to enjoy long walks, sun bathing if the weather allows, games, films, table tennis, wonderful meals, bird watching and even badger and deer spotting. If you are very energetic then there is a private gym in which to escape though I can't image why anyone would do this!!

Summary: We had a lovely week staying in this comfortable cottage. It had everything we needed for our stay, and so peaceful. The garden was perfect for a dog, really secure, and then all the woodlands around for walking meant we didn’t have to travel anywhere if we didn’t want to! Nikki was very friendly, helpful and easy to contact.

Summary: The cottage is beautiful and really lovely place for a calm, peaceful get away! I stayed with my mum and we bought our labrador who had a great time and was spoilt for choice! Would highly recommend and we hope to stay again next year. Thanks so much Nicky & family!

Summary: This property was perfect. Photos are accurate but do not do it complete justice. There were five of us staying here aged from 20s to 80s, and all had a lovely stay. Very spacious cottage, beautifully furnished, comfy and cosy. Plenty of car parking space. Everything that we needed was available within the cottage. Kitchen had all that we needed to cook family meals and make tea or coffee. The outside garden was an ideal place for us to host our local family with its two seating sets with tables, suitable for 10-12 to enjoy tea out on the lawn and enjoy quietude within the the surrounds. Plus the adjacent gym/ping pong provided fun entertainment for those of us with more energy. We also went for lovely walks around the property and local forest, and we even had the owner’s two dogs (Woody and Willow) join us for one of our three mile jaunts in the woods. The location is simply idyllic and beautifully representative of Devon country life, very close to Crediton and its conveniences, such as a Tesco Superstore and two petrol stations. Easy access to the Devon coast at Budleigh and Sidmouth and to Castle Drogo, a modern and interesting castle in a very scenic area. This cottage is really a special experience. Highly recommend.

Summary: We've stayed in cottages in Devon many times and I don't think we've ever stayed in such a peaceful and relaxing environment. And with 2 Labradors and a teenage son in tow as well. Communication with Nikki both before and during our stay was brilliant and the location and surrounding are amazing. We'll hopefully get a chance to stay again soon.

Summary: The photos don;t really convey how great this cottage is. Superb attention to detail, quality throughout and looked after. We had a real and needed break and despite appalling weather, the cottage made it special. ...just a pity VRBO don't care for their app as well as the owners do this cottage (the known 'network error' they haven't fixed)

Summary: This well-equipped cottage is exactly as described in the listing and had everything we needed for our stay. Nikki and family were excellent hosts, providing a thoughtful welcome pack for our arrival and on hand for anything we might need, whilst respecting our privacy throughout our stay. We loved the cottage and the tranquility of the setting; If you are looking for peace and a getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is the place to come! As well as your own gated garden, you also have access to beautiful woodland right on your doorstep. We also thoroughly enjoyed exploring the gardens of the main house when they were opened on the Wednesday of our stay, made all the more special by our personal tour being provided by Nikki's two dogs, Woody and Willow! For our teenagers, the private gym and the table tennis were a real bonus. I only wish we could have stayed longer, to explore more of the area and spend more quality time with each other in this beautiful setting.
