Change House | Luxury Manor House in the Burgundy Vines with Heated Pool and AC throughout

6 Bedroom House in Change

A gem of a property in the heart of the Burgundy wine region.
Our Domaine sits among the vines in a peaceful valley to the south of Beaune. Dating from the late 1600s, the locals call it the ‘chateau’, but the property has always been more of a baronial farm than a residence. It was, in fact, the winery for the local lords, as the surrounding vineyards, an antique wine press and a hundred feet of vaulted cellar attest.
The property has been recently transformed into a luxury farmhouse complex dedicated to the enjoyment of the culinary traditions and the natural beauty of Burgundy. With six luxurious en-suite rooms in separate buildings set around a courtyard within the acres of a walled-in park, Domaine de Cromey offers modern comfort and quiet sophistication in a setting from another era.
The Dining Hall is a magnificent room laid out around an original 18th century wine press, with an open fire, flag-stone floor massive oak beams, a lounge area and bar, and a monumental staircase that floats through the space above.
The Salon has parquet floors and oak-beamed 'plafond a la française'. An open fire with the original fire-back dating from 1716 is the focal point of the room, and a restored Pleyel baby grand is the center of attention. Seating for 12 comfortably.
The open-plan semi-professional kitchen is in the center of household activity. Sliding metal 'atelier' doors allow the kitchen to be versatile, open or closed as needs be. Three ovens, eight burner on two tops, three refrigerators, two work islands and lots of storage make this an ideal work space for those interested in the culinary pleasures of Burgundy. An herb garden is just out the door in the courtyard. A separate bread house serves as a summer kitchen, with wood-fired oven, fridge, plancha and prep and clean-up surfaces.
The heated pool sits below the main terrace with a magnificent view across the park and down through the valley. There are four furnished terraces around the main manor house, so there is sun or shade at any time of day.
The walled in park below the manor house is an arboretum set in five acres, with specimen trees dating back through the history of the property. The majestic cedar that dominates the lower park and is visible from miles around, is said to date to 1802, planted to commemorate the crowning of Napoleon.
A hundred feet of vaulted wine cellar is a reminder of the importance of the Domaine as a wine-making property. Seven acres of new vineyard plantation above the compound is part of our estate.
Professional laundry facilities are available for guest's use.
The whole property is air-conditioned.
The house is non smocking but it is permitted outdoor on the beautiful terrasses.

Summary: I have rented many houses over the years, but the Domaine de Cromey was the most wonderful by far. Book this chateau immediately! We are already planning a return. The photos online are accurate but the property's charm and details go beyond these photos - not to mention the kindness and attention to detail of the hosts. We traveled to Burgundy with 5 other couples (12 people total). The chateau had more room than we needed with a large dining room/bar, kitchen, living room and 3 patios and a lovely landscaped yard with paths in addition to the pool. The 6 bedrooms were large, clean and (it seemed) newly decorated, all with private bathrooms with nice products, robes and slippers. Not a detail was overlooked and Jean Luc, who manages the property, went over and beyond expectations by giving us a tour of the gardens, bringing us a quantity of raspberries from the garden, and providing guidance on all sorts of topics, from hikes to towns. It was like staying at a luxury hotel that you have all to yourself. The wine from the connected winery was also very good (try the Cremant!). I can't say enough about the chateau and hosts and we are so grateful that we were able to stay a week at Cromey. We'll be back!

Summary: The luxury Manor was absolutely breathtaking, the surroundings are full of flower gardens and is so peaceful. The home is large and extremely comfortable. We had 11 people staying and the accommodations were perfect. The old wine press in the large dining room was lovely. The views of the Burgundy countryside from each patio were lovely. The bedrooms are spacious with en-suite bathrooms and a/c in each. The pool was enjoyable. The house manager was easy to work with and the communication was clear. We toured most of the Burgundy wine region and this was our home base. We truly felt pampered and this home was a wonderful place to start and end our days. We highly recommend this property it is worth it!!!

Historic wine making building converted to modern residential use with historic oak structure still visible. Private chef (Joss) high-end dining and highly educational wine tasting (Dan or Ann) experiences available. Just spectacular…tres magnifique!

Summary: We stayed at this property for 5 nights and it was truly the highlight of our trip to France. The house was well stocked with everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, the property was amazing, you literally don't need to leave. The communication with Aoife & Joss was so easy and the meals they prepared for us were amazing! I would go back and have them cook for us again and again. Highly recommend!

Summary: Absolute heaven, you want for nothing. Ellie and Dennis have restored the property both inside and out to welcome guests with 21st century amenities while retaining the old world charm of Bourgogne. We were a multigenerational family of 6 who stayed for 2 weeks. Joss and Aoife made many sumptuous meals including a homemade pizza party! Peter’s two wine tastings introduced us to the bounty of Côte d’Or. Bernaud and Mirabelle keep the grounds lush with flora. They are an incredible team of highly skilled hospitality professionals. Many, many thanks to all of them. We can’t wait to come back.

Summary: Our stay at Domaine de Cromey was incredible. We were a party of 12 who love wine and food. The house was absolutely perfect for us. Huge, well stocked kitchen and gorgeous patios and rooms to gather and sip wine. Each of the 6 bedrooms were perfectly even in their appearance and made choosing rooms very simple. The bathrooms were extremely clean and ours had a towel warmer. We had a beautiful meal prepared by Joss that would put any of the Michelin starred restaurant to shame. Pizza night was so fun and the 16th century oven building was amazing. We also had a wine tasting with Peter that by the end of trip resulted in the purchase of two cases that we can’t wait to receive. But the prize was Aoife who was attentive to our needs and a huge help during the week. She is pleasant and darling. You will love her! We all had the most magical week in the best place to stay in Beaune!

Summary: Our group spent two weeks at the property and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The property managers were first class, always available, supportive of our needs and willing to help with making local reservations and offering tips for what to see. They cooked two dinners for us which were outstanding and helped to keep our kitchen clean after all of our cooking. We also did a wine tasting with them - highly recommended - in their wine cellar. The house was as advertised, spacious, well-decorated, with a well-provisioned kitchen; and the fact that all the bedrooms had en suite baths was a big attraction for our group. Sunny days allowed us to be in the garden, on the patio and in the pool. Nearby walking on quiet roads and in the vineyards was a plus for all. The location is close enough to Beaune and wine-tasting opportunities to make it easy to travel to them. We would highly recommend the house and their property team; communications before and during the visit were great. We had a terrific experience and thank them all for their experience and expertise is managing large groups.

Summary: We had an amazing time. The house is beautiful and on a great property. The best part: Steven and Lilly. They made us dinner, got us groceries, helped us with restaurants and taught us about Burgundy wine. They basically made the trip for us!

Summary: We’ve rented a lot of other villa, chateaux and domaines, but this one was the best! The six en suite bedrooms were all the same size and had the same amenities so none of the six couples had a less than optimal room as we’ve experienced in other rentals. The two on-site staff were wonderful and spoke perfect English (they’re Irish so not a surprise). The location in Burgundy was perfect for day trips. If you book this rental, you’ll be delighted!
