Summary: As mentioned by others who have stayed, the pictures don't do it justice. Superb house, gardens and pool, with a fantastic view across the valley, and the boule area was most welcome with many games played, late into the night. The house is well equipped and Lionel was always responsive and helpful if there is any advice about the local area you need or if the is anything you need during your stay. The bedrooms are lovely and the downstairs open plan setup is perfect - though the weather was so good that we only ate one meal at the table inside. The air conditioning upstairs was very welcome and as long as you manage it properly, it's possible to keep the downstairs at a pleasant temperature. The town is lovely and close to some wonderful towns and villages. One thing to note (as mentioned by some other guests) is that there are some additional costs that we were unaware of because the UK website does not seem to show them properly (electricity was extra and meant we needed to get some additional cash), so I would suggest you confirm all costs early on. Aside from this, I could not fault the house or Lionel's professionalism and hospitality. We had a wonderful time and would love to stay there again if the chance presents itself.

Summary: This was one of the most beautiful properties I have ever stayed in. The interior decor was gorgeous. The kitchen more than fully stocked. The outside was magnificent. The village amazingly charming. I have stayed in plenty of places full of yard sale cast offs, so it was refreshing to stay somewhere beautifully designed, comfortable, and lovely. I few things to note. VRBO claims the pool is heated, but it is not. A small disappointment as we were traveling for November half-term and it was too chilly for the kids to swim. Also, Lionel speaks primarily French (This is noted in the VRBO listing, but I had missed that detail!) and we only speak English, so there was some confusion on our part about the security deposit, which he preferred in cash. We had not planned for that, but we were able to work out a bank transfer that took care of everything. We appreciated his flexibility. The area around the village is beautiful. I loved the single lane medieval bridge that we had to cross most days (with a handy traffic light to make sure no one got trapped by oncoming traffic!). We went to Nimes, Avignon, Pont du Gard, Pont d'Arc, and Grotte Chauvet 2 from our centrally located home base. If you are debating staying here, you will not be disappointed.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay in this house. The location of the house is really incomparable. Many villages in France claim to be the most beautiful, but La Roque sur Cece really deserves this award. And the house fits perfectly into this place. The pool, the amazing view, the really beautiful and modern rooms, everything fits together perfectly. Everything was very clean, well furnished and equipped. I have already booked many holiday homes, but this was the best so far. Lionel is a very sympathetic and nice host and we will certainly make use of his hospitality again. @ Lionel, the next time I will be there, we'll cycle up Mont Ventoux. Summary: The house is in the most beautiful place ! We had a fabulous holiday and would definitely go back! The owner is lovely and anything you need, he will be there to help - a huge plus!

Summary: The villa is absolutely beautiful, modern, spacious and in an incredible location. The communal spaces are huge, the whole place is really beautifully decorated and Lionel is a charming and helpful host. The area is gorgeous with plenty of places and things to do and visit. My only criticism is that the villa is advertised as air-conditioned throughout. Only the two upstairs bedrooms have air conditioning. The downstairs space is cool and doesn’t need it but the two downstairs bedrooms don’t have air-con (only fans) and were hot at night. There is also a large additional charge for bedding per person and a final clean (this came to over 200 euros for 4 adults and children). It would have been good to know this when booking and not on arrival at the villa!!! Other than that the villa is incredible, highly recommended and we’d love to return.

Summary: The very charming owner - Lionel, was at the house to welcome us in to the house. Wow! The photos on the website don't do this wonderful property justice. The open plan living area is enormous. In the fridge was a bottle each of white, red and rose wine, which was a very generous welcoming gift. All the appliances in the kitchen are top of the range and spotlessly kept as was the house in general. There was nothing we needed that wasn't in a draw or cupboard somewhere, including things like string and cellotape, which we needed for our wild bird feeder! More high-tech items included a built-in radio system, and a huge tv. Most things were operated via a remote control, including the gates to access the property and a window in the roof. The beds were comfortable and the showers were superb. The swimming pool is huge and situated just a few steps down from the terrace. There were plenty of tables, chairs, loungers and sun shades, so whether sitting in the sun or the shade, there was always somewhere suitable. We visited all four nearby "Plus Beaux Villages de France", as well as other charming towns and villages including Uzes. There are a handful of restaurants within easy walking distance and with a reasonable supermarket just a ten minute drive away, we were in no danger of going hungry. Driving around the area is a real pleasure, with very little traffic and very scenic countryside, seemingly changing around every bend. As keen fans of natural history, especially butterflies, we can report seeing in the garden several species, including Ilex Hairstreak, Painted Lady, Cleopatra, Southern White Admiral, and the star of the show, the Two-tailed Pasha. A short walk from the village in any direction yielded several species of Blues, Skippers and others. To summarise, it will be very difficult for us to beat this holiday due to the beautiful villa and wonderful countryside. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this house and area to anyone considering a relaxing stay in this area.
