Negative: When staying in a 4* hotel I would not expect a hole and stain on sheet, a cracked sink and a rusty plughole. The bed was incredibly soft and uncomfortable. There were 2 miniscule biscuits on the tea tray. At breakfast the potato scone was inedible, several items were cold, including the toast. We stayed for an anniversary celebration which was spoiled by the poor standards at the hotel.

Positive: The hotel was period style in fitting with Stratford upon avon's Shakespeare theme and the spa was well equipped with a pool, spa and sauna. The room was very comfortable with a bath, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Perfect location, 5 minutes from the town with shops, restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance
Negative: The breakfast was £18 per person per morning, however we only had the option of tea or filter coffee, with cappuccino £4.00 extra. Typical complimentary Continental breakfasts, from our experience, usually have a coffee machine, which we felt would have given us a sense of more value for money. The breakfast was very nice, however I'm not too sure it was worth £18 each per day. With regards to the room, the only complaint would be that the TV was in a very confusing place, facing the bathroom in the other side of the room. We had to turn it round to face us. The remote also kept sticking/freezing and the only way to fix it would be to switch the TV on and off.
