Summary: Not our favourite hotel. We booked a suite as a celebration for 2 nights and was allocated the Highfields Suite. To get to the Suite there were stairs to the lift, then after the lift there was another 2 sets of stairs. Although the latter set of stairs had disabled lifts 1 was out of order. Once in the room it was freezing as no heating had been left on. Lovely spacious room though and massive bathroom....unfortunately freezing cold and a window that overlooked a flat room that needs privacy film added to it. We could tell the room had recently been decorated which was nice. The bed was very comfortable. The evening meal in the restaurant was nice and the staff attentive. First morning we were ready at 8am. No hot water. We contacted reception and were told that workmen were on site and the hot water had drained away due to 'early checkouts'. Why would the manager allow hot water to be turned off at peak time of use? We were told it would take 20 minutes to re heat but it was at least an hour. No heating in bathroom as we were told the fuses had been taken out of the electric towel rails We went out for a few hours and hoped that housekeeping had attended to our room by the time we returned at 1pm. Unfortunately they hadn't so we put the do not disturb sign up. Later (4pm) I asked reception for more coffee sachets and toilet roll. It never arrived. By the second afternoon the room had heated up nicely. The next morning we had to leave early. No one was on reception.

Summary: The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the mattress needs replaced. No fridge in the room. No bottled water provided in the room. The bathroom has mould around the tub and sink. No aircon in the room. Very expensive drink even for a hotel. Very limited choice of drinks.

Summary: The ground are beautiful the hotel is dated rooms are over looked by other rooms and there are no net curtains or similar so if you want privacy you have to close the thick curtains and have Yr lights on in the say time not ideal. Not many plug sockets in the room so you have to choose between having lights at your bed side or charging your phone. Lots of phone sockets but no phone to phone front desk or housekeeping as suggested by info in the room. Bedroom door did not lock and walls very thin woken by people in the corridors. The hot water in the bathroom very hot no warning of how quickly it gets hot

Summary: The long driveway builds great expectation, unfortunately, that’s where it stops. Overall the hotel is in desperate need of a full renovation. I believe I stayed in Woodlands, light bulbs were missing, mould on the windows and significant paint peeled off the bathroom windows. The carpet looked like it needed a thorough deep clean. The pool area was served by great friendly staff, if only that service was carried over o to the bar area and the breakfast staff. The pool area again, but s in need of a refresh, the roof is in poor condition with lots of rust visible. The evening meal was mediocre at best, The Hake was turning grey and the service was very inattentive even though the bar area was very quiet. However, the service from reception from check in and check out was great, just a shame about the rest.

Summary: Very tired hotel. Tv didn’t work in the room, the shower leaked onto the floor, the breakfast buffet(although the food was delicious) was a bit of a sad affair and it was often difficult to find a member of staff which made us feel like a bit of an inconvenience at times. The swimming pool was adequate but again the staff insisted that we only took one towel per person. Just lacked class at times!

Summary: Staff are very nice. The breakfast is always hot, with a good selection. Our dog enjoys the grounds. The hotel has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Always happy to return here.
