In 1927, this magical historic hunting lodge & nature cabin was the very first house on spectacular Solstice Canyon in Malibu. The majestic Redwood beams were brought up the canyon by mule train, which followed the deer path to the top. Here among the hummingbirds, eucalyptus, ocean mists, and Southern CA sunshine is the setting of our exquisite little vacation home. Just 5 mins to the beach at the bottom of the road, 6 mins to Pepperdine, and 8 mins to shops & restaurants in downtown Malibu.

Summary: This place was perfect for our family of 3. We especially loved that the kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies, and the outdoor shower was a highlight. Great views, and a cozy home.

Summary: Beautiful, quiet cabin with a wonderful kitchen, super comfortable bed, and wonderful yard. The place was thoughtfully appointed and Whitney leaves a handy binder full of tips and local info. Can't say enough nice things about this place, thanks for a wonderful stay!

Summary: This house is very comfortable, well supplied, well organized, and immaculately clean, and the owner is amazingly responsive and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and entertaining -- with high-quality dishes and pots and pans. The availability of miscellaneous cooking supplies is a welcome surprise. The only issue for us was the fact that the bedroom and bathroom are on separate floors, which we survived but not without some consternation for my 77-year-old husband. Nevertheless we would definitely consider staying again.

Summary: The property is as it appears online. Great kitchen, great yard, and amenities. If you want total quiet and serenity this is the place. The only issue we had was the drive up to the house after sundown-- can be treacherous if there is fog. The canyon winds around a lot, have the manager change timer on outside lights for the full time you are staying if you intend to be out past 6 pm. The bed was not comfortable. But there is so much good that it was easy to overlook. Would recommend the manager keep a eggshell topper in linen closet for those that need it. So close to Pepperdine it worked for our visit. Beautiful surroundings.

Summary: The place was amazing, no complaints whatsoever. The only thing to know about the stay is that the drive up the side of the hill is a little daunting to newbies. Once you drive it a few times, it doesn't seem so overwhelming, but the first time (especially at night) isn't ideal. Another thing to know about house, is if security is very important to you, I don't suggest staying. The main bedroom is on the street level, and the only thing between you and an intruder is a glass sliding door. Outside of those 2 things, it was very pleasant.
