Summary: The property is beautiful and the rooms are comfortable. I enjoyed the serenity of the castle hotel. My only recommendation would be to improve the breakfast options/use fresher ingredients.

Summary: Magnificent castle and hotel. The only castle hotel we stayed in that truly felt like being in an authentic castle. Quite an impressive drive up to be topped off by the dramatic, candlelit, red-carpeted staircase. The claw footed tub in its own turret off of our bedroom was sublime. Not to be missed! From the stain-glassed windows and chapel, oversized paintings, the complimentary cakes and tea, to the manicured castle grounds, excellent breakfast and good dinner in the beautiful dining room with attentive staff.

Summary: Markree Castle is a great option for those staying in and around Sligo. The castle itself is beautiful with lots of gardens on the property to explore. The room we stayed in was spacious and the bathroom in particular was very nice. Only cons in the room were no fridge and no easily accessible outlets by the bedsides. The best thing about our stay here was the food. The dinner was the best meal we had in Ireland (and we also stayed at Ashford Castle) and the breakfast was also very good

Summary: This is a once in a lifetime kind of hotel stay. I mean what can compare to staying in a castle ? The castle itself is super charming and unique. The grounds are immaculate. And the dining is wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. I can’t say enough good things about our stay.
