8 Bedroom House in Amer

FROM YOUR HOME TO YOUR OTHER HOME, BUT ON HOLIDAY.
Do you want a quiet holiday away from the usual noise, but still close enough for day trips to Barcelona, Girona or the Costa Brava? Do you want to experience the traditional Catalan hospitality and culture? Then this house is for you.
Set on a mountainside, this beautifully restored house, over 300 years old, offers stunning views from almost every point of the property.
On the ground floor, there are four large bedrooms each with its own bathroom, plus a large living room with fireplace, on the same level as the pool and entertainment area.
On the main floor, which is the second level, there is a suite with bathroom, where there is a hydromassage bathtub and shower, and two more bedrooms sharing a bathroom, as well as a spectacular living room with fireplace that will lead you to a suggestive gallery where you can admire the Brugent Valley.
Finally, on the upper floor, third level, there will be two bedrooms with a bathroom with hydro-massage shower. On this floor there is an indoor leisure room where you can enjoy a pool table and table football.
There are three full sized kitchens equipped with dishwashers, one kitchen is right next to the pool and includes an air conditioner for hot sunny days.
All beds are European size, and in most rooms it is perfectly possible to place extra beds or even cots. There is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The house is fully equipped with blankets, sheets, bedspreads, pillows, bath and beach towels.
The salt water pool is yours to enjoy all your holidays. No need to deal with the harsh side effects of chlorinated water. In the pool, there are water polo goals and hydromassage jets, all with your well-being and comfort in mind. There is an outdoor shower and a room that includes a full bath, shower and clothes dryer.
Children of all ages will love the house, as there are endless activities for them. The house has an exclusive room for the little ones, where they can find all kinds of toys and classic games, Playstation console and many more.
The house is ideal and suitable for all seasons; for long walks and hikes in the surrounding mountains. There is a traditional covered terrace with arches, where you can play table tennis, table football or billiards, something that young and old people will enjoy. On this terrace there is also a table and chairs to enjoy the scenery and good conversation.
A twenty minute walk from the back of the property takes you to a church over 1,000 years old, perched on a cliff overlooking the whole valley.
A five minute drive takes you to the village of Amer, an active and picturesque village with narrow cobbled streets and a traditional square. Although the village of Amer is quite small, with about 2,500 inhabitants, you can find all the services you need, such as the Health Centre, pharmacy, bank offices, fire station, theatre, museum, petrol station, football pitch, sports hall... In the main and monumental square there are two bars where you can relax comfortably and drink some beer, wine or any other refreshment. Next to the central square of the Vila, there are also two fish shops, two local greengrocers, three supermarkets, four traditional bakeries, tobacconists and two local butchers. There is a wide range of restaurants, from pizzeria, to Mediterranean food, local cuisine, snack bar, and even take-away food. Finally some traditional handicrafts such as wickerwork and espadrilles should be mentioned.
After all this, to introduce you to some of the many events that can be held on the property: from films or commercials, such as the one you can find on YouTube, called "No Season Love" by Capri Elle; to spiritual activities such as Yoga, in a multi-purpose room fully adapted for the practice. In addition, adjacent to this room, there is a former water mine that has been converted into a massage room.
The multi-purpose room offers the possibility of holding banquets, conventions, cinema or film sessions, Team Building events... among many others, adapted to the needs of each group of people.
We also offer an exclusive buffet service, run by the great Chef Carlos who, by prior reservation, offers his services adapting the menus to the guests' tastes for the days and meals that suit them best.
At Can Xera we are at the disposal of our visitors to offer them an exclusive service, designed for them to enjoy the holidays that you deserve.

Summary: The property is truly stunning, the villa has an amazing amount of outdoor space and you really only need the inside for cooking big meals (although there is a kitchen in the pool house) and to sleep. The facilities are incredible and the location is perfect, just close enough to the small town of Amer with bars and supermarkets but with your own privacy. If you are thinking of visiting local areas you should rent a car as it is slightly off the main road, but this villa is truly worth it. Breathtaking hikes straight out of the Villa and a really nice walk up to the Monastery Santa Brigida. The communication can be difficult as this villa is available on many different booking sites so I would make sure you have a contact email and phone early. Overall this is a fantastic property and well worth it for families or groups of adults looking for adventure.

Summary: Dream Villa Where do I start. After turning right off the main road into a montano path taking us up the mountain the excitement began. After finally arriving a few minutes later after tackling our off road approach in our not so good rental, my family an I where left gob smacked as we viewed the outside of the property as the electronic gate opened. My partner daughter and two sons of 10 & 7 could not stop smiling as the most helpful and caring owner gave us his personal grand tour( a lesson many owners should follow). The property had the most amazing amenities and convenient areas for all to enjoy, relax, socialise and also have peace and quiet. The kids and admittedly me also could not stop playing all the fun games from basketball to water polo in the pool. With bikes, scooters, pool table, table tennis and even a pogo stick (many attempts) there wasn't any " im bored" moments. Even with game consoles downstairs the kids didn't even play with, games like hide an seek became back in fashion. The villa is set with such beautiful mountain views surrounding it each morning my partner an I would open the curtains in our room and lye back and simply gaze for ages until one of us finally got up. To simply have the ability to mix with everyone, someone, no one all in the same household was fantastic. With three kitchens, more than one washing machine and so many sun bathing spots, all of the normal problems that occur when living in a multi family enviorment were solved. Having stayed in quite a few villas now all over Europe, this was by far the best and not the most expensive. Kids tip: take a hike up to the chapel at the top of the mountain behind the villa 👍🏾

Summary: Our family group of 17 stayed for ten days in Can Xera, and we would warmly recommend it for large families or groups. The house itself is exactly as pictured – remote, private, and GORGEOUS. The owners, Montse and Alvaro, seem dedicated making family/group vacations awesome. They provide an amazing house, in a gorgeous location, at a reasonable price and with comfortable terms. They make sure that the place is spotlessly clean, well-maintained and better outfitted than most people’s homes. And they are fully available, day or night, to help make sure things go smoothly. From the thoughtful snack waiting when we arrived after a long day of travel, to remote assistance with dinner reservations or driving directions, and including a magic show organized for our kids – they were all that hospitality should be. Don’t think twice – this is the place for an excellent family or group vacation.

Summary: We celebrated my girlfriends birthday with a barbecue. The house is fully equipped. That day it didn't rain and we could enjoy all the great views. We also enjoyed all the activities that you can do at the house. Some of our friends played pool inside the house and the other ones played pool on the other table on the terrace. The house also has two table footballs. In the morning we organised a basketball game boys vs girls. All of us had a perfect day. We recommend that everyone should go and enjoy the house.

Summary: Wonderful location and extraordinary villa. After visiting Barcelona for four days we booked this villa for one week to relax. And it lived up to all of our expectations. Four very large bedrooms with good matrases and pillows, each bedroom with its own private bathroom. Lots of space around the house with everything you could imagine for your pleasure. With a large pool and air-conditioned kitchen next to it. Not to mention the table tennis table, pool table, darts and plenty of mountain bikes. But the greatest pleasure of course being the large swimming pool. Stunning views all around. We would like to thank alvar and montse for their hospitality and especially for the great green biking tour they organized. Something not to be missed. Enjoyable for everyone, cycling from 500 meters all the way down to amer over 15 kilometers through stunning landscape. Even when it's hot (and we had temperatures over 35 degrees during our stay) this bike ride is to be recommended. Plenty of lush green and shades and all the way downhill. Even though I have been to Spain five times now, the friendliness of the people keeps amazing me. Especially in catalunya. Alvar and montse, thanks again for this extraordinary week and I am sure we will return one day. Regards, Rob

Summary: LA HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ADVENTURE This was an important holiday, and Montse and Alvar stopped at nothing to make it a perfect trip. Our family of four (4 yo and 1 yo girls) met my brother and his wife and daughter (5 yo) for five days at this private, spectacular location. Communication (they offerred email, phone and text as we preferred) was a pleasure and Montse and Alvar gave easy to follow directions with a couple options depending on our interest (we took the more scenic C-17 route from Barcelona). We arrived to a lovely welcome, with a delicious spread of charcuterie and chilled pasta salad awaiting us in the glassed-in kitchen by the pool. The pool really is as great as it looks. I was skeptical about the "salt" part, but it is lovely, with wide steps leading to a shallow end for juniors and a proper deep end for diving. Unforgettably, our 4 yo learned to trust her floaties and go it alone in the deeps for the first time. The kids loved it. The pool furniture is great for eating, playing and relaxing in the endless sun. (The sunsets were beautiful.) There is an apparently unlimited supply of supply of playthings that Montse and Alvar roll out as guests require: there were bikes, trikes, scooters and even 2 battery powered kid's ride-ons...all of which we saw getting put away as we were departing--I'm guessing the next guests were adult. There is a voluminous garage/cellar below the main floor where these all come from, and we observed probably 10 cycles for grown-ups. Lots of books, board and video games (playstation) and movies. The house is well stocked and good for sleeping (we only needed 3 of the 4 bedrooms). A highlight for us was enabled by the owners procuring a 3rd bike seat. The loaded up four bikes with 3 seats into a trailer and transported us up into the mountains. The 7 of us (four parents and our 3 kids) then rode this spectacular 18-km railroad bed (stopping for lunch in a town to the north) back down into Amer, where Montse and Alvar picked us up and trailered the bikes back up to the house. They put a lot of effort into making this happen. A highly recommended adventure if you can swing it! We hardly needed to leave the grounds (Car, the horse provided a lot of entertainment for our daughters), but the surrounding area has lots to offer, and day trips are easy. The markets in Amer (fantastic butcher) are a lot of fun, and the nearby towns offered a festival or two. Besides the great fun grilling out by the pool, othe

Summary: As a large family of 9, we had a fantastic stay here in July / August and have thought about returning, even though we generally tend to stay at a place just the once. Montse, Alvaro and family are friendly and welcoming hosts. The farmhouse is their main home, with the lower ground floor for guests, separated from the main house so plenty of privacy. This was never a problem, they were happy to help when we needed and to give space when not (during our 2 week stay they were often away). The property is quite well maintained. Some portion of the grassed area was under development but there was still plenty of yard space. As the pictures show, the pool area is lovely. The pool is a good size, gets good sun, and overlooks the hills. We had a lot of fun playing pool games, diving in or just being lazy. We gave feedback at the end of our stay that some parts of the pool area needed a bit of maintenance, but again this is just normal wear and tear. The kitchen is small but that didn't seem to be a problem. I would suggest that it could do with a better selection of cooking equipment, and food storage was limited for a large family, but we made do and it was fine. There is a small table in the kitchen, but we tended to eat at the large indoor table, at the large circular table out on the balcony, or in the cooking / dining room by the pool. It was nice to have the pool table and ping pong table. The pool table and equipment did need some repair, so hopefully that has is better now (but the playing surface was fine). The house is located at the end of a winding dirt road up a steepish hill. It's about a 5-minute drive into Amer, or a 15-20 minute walk following the path down the hill into town. We really enjoyed walking up to the chapel at the top of hill, about 30 minutes and the views up there. There doesn't seem to be a lot of choice for eating out in Amer as it is quite small, but we'd definitely recommend Masai D'Amer (which you can walk to) – excellent food, nice setting and great prices. Getting to Girona took about 30 minutes and was very easy. Driving to Barcelona took about 90 minutes. Overall we had a really enjoyable family holiday here.
