3 Bedroom House in Ayr

Welcome to The Retreat at Scaurodoon. A beautiful recently built, 2 bedroom condo type house. We are located in the heart of Burns Country in Ayr, beautifully situated at the estuary of the River Doon, right by the famous Ayr Beach. Burns Cottage, Museum and the famous Brig O'Doon are all within a 20 minute walk . There are beautiful river walks and stunning beach walks on the doorstop and Ayr Town Centre is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk from the house.
There are top class restaurants, cafes pubs and shops within easy walking distance.
South Ayrshire is also golfing country and there are two excellent local courses within a ten minute walk from the house and several other top flight links courses within a 20 minute drive including Prestwick Old Course, the site of the first ever Open Golf Championship and the British Open courses at Royal Troon and iconic Turnberry.
Further afield Glasgow is within an hours drive or 40 minute train journey from Ayr Station. Edinburgh is about 90 minutes drive from Ayr. There are plenty of public transport options nearby
The property itself is beautiful with all the facilities you will require for your stay. Both bedrooms have King Size double beds, one of which can be split into 2 singles if required. There is a "Jack and Jill" bathroom between the two bedrooms and another shower room downstairs.
The property is attached as an annexe to our own home but has it's own entrance and is entirely self-contained. There is a connecting door to the entranceway to our own property but this will be locked and not accessed in any way during your stay.

Summary: When booking I wasn't aware that the owner would be living there too. Although it was described as separate annexe it is literally just a door between. No privacy to use the garden which isn't enclosed as he had the gate open to come and go. Couldn't use the driveway

Summary: Well-equipped, very nicely presented and comfortable house in a fabulous location next to the river and beach. It’s a lovely quiet location and we enjoyed seeing a couple of deer trotting up the street, whilst we were there. Gary very kindly left us a large selection of breakfast items in the fridge, plus tea, coffee, milk, condiments etc, all of which were much appreciated on the morning after attending a wedding. We’d love to stay again in future for a weekend break and to bring our little dog who would love the proximity to the beach and the safe enclosed garden. Really clear and helpful communication with Gary in the run up to our booking and, although we didn’t cross paths on our stay, his son was ion hand in the adjoining house if we needed anything. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Summary: The property was advertised as a 3 bedroom property however it is only a two bed. The property and the owner were fantastic and the location is great for long walks on the beach. We would definitively stay there again.

Summary: Convenient location - only a few minutes walk to the sea and about 15 minutes walk into Ayr along the seafront. Well appointed property and a welcoming host. Will definitely use again and would recommend to others.

Summary: What a great place to stay. Very comfortable and no distance to the most beautiful part of Ayr beach. We were staying whilst visiting family and definitely hope to come back.

Summary: The house is a great base for exploring Ayrshire. Ayr beach is right on the doorstep, Alloway and Burn's country is just a short drive down the road and it's not too long a drive or train journey to get through to other town and cities. Gary was a great host and was onhand to help whenever required as he stays in an attached annex. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend this house to stay in.
