Just a 4-minute walk from the condo is Playa Dorada Shopping Center, where you can find restaurants, a children's area, a pharmacy, an ATM, a small movie theater, and souvenir shops.
A JUMBO supermarket/department Store. (similar to Walmart or Target) is less than 10 minutes away by car.
The Playa Dorada complex is fully gated and contains about 8 resorts. You can walk safely and find a shopping center, golf course and international restaurants.

Very Important - Your stay includes an average usage of electricity and air conditioning which allows guests to use the air conditioners for approximately 12 hours a day. We recommend using them at bedtime (example 10pm to 10am) and using them conservatively during the day whenever possible. It's also important to leave the air conditioners turned off if you're not in the apartment and doors/windows should never be kept open while the air conditioning is on, as this could cause damage. Summary: Great location right on the beach, but the condo was a little run down with mold. The biggest issue was checking in. Our room wasn’t ready at the check in time and we weren’t allowed to stay past our check out time (they gave us 30 mins even though our room was late over 1.5 hours) which was sad.

Summary: We had the most amazing time celebrating our anniversary. The location truly feels like you have your own little condo on the beach. The communication and guidance was top notch and never made me feel bad about all my touristy questions :) The resort itself was small but adequate. I don't think older kids would have enough to do.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Playa Dorada! This property is wonderfully maintained, well appointed, clean, and full of amenities. By being right on the beach, having a refreshing plunge pool, and a relaxing sitting/eating outdoor area you have everything you need without having to leave the comfort of your condo! We had a minor problem with the master shower but the properry manager was prompt in fixing the matter and her communication was outstanding. We did not pay for the all inclusive option, but still enjoyed the amenities of the resort and enjoyed trying different restaurants in the Puerta Plata area. We were able to easily use Uber for transportation to the grocery store and restaurants. I would eagerly stay here again…you will not be disappointed!

Summary: The location and apartment were exactly as described on the VRBO website. The only minor issue was that the property management staff was not very welcoming; we weren't sure where to check in, and they were not very forthcoming with information about what you could and couldn't use while on the resort property. When asked what we could do, they provided incorrect information. We asked if we could order food from our apartment, and we were told we could. We later discovered that because we did not receive the all-inclusive package, ordering food to be delivered incurs a high fee. It didn't ruin the vacation; it was just a minor misunderstanding on their part. I still think it's a great place to have fun, but keep in mind that they aren't particularly interested in providing information unless you ask.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay in Stephanie’s condo. You would have a hard time finding a place closer to the beach or a nicer beach. It was just beautiful. The ground level patio had a large table, couch and small pool for cooling off. At night we felt like we had the beach to ourselves. It was also nice that this portion of the beach was not crowded when we were there, and we had no problem finding lounge chairs. Once we became familiar with the area, we found a beach bar and restaurant. We also found three restaurants within walking distance including an excellent Italian and fusion Japanese restaurant. The unit was clean and very nice, though it might be a little tight for 4 adults. You should be aware that the condo is within an all-inclusive resort. Some may find this an advantage and others a minus. You can use the restaurants and bars, but you have to pay for a day pass. It was $85.00/person when we were there. You can also pay in the lobby for individual meals. We are over all-inclusive buffets and standing in line for a-la-cart restaurant reservations, but that is us.

Summary: We loved staying here! It's right on the beach and the apartment was very comfortable. Tatiana (apartment manager) was very communicative and helpful. The only issue...unfortunately, there was a very strong chemical smell that began permeating our room our first night, in the early morning. Hotel maintenance did not come out to check when contacted by Tatiana which was concerning as it could have been serious. We thought it could be the AC unit or pesticides. We didn't know. In the end, it's likely it was a new toilet bowl sanitizer that the manager suggested was the problem after we had left based on her talk with the housecleaners. We must have overlooked it. We hope that brand will never be used again for the sake of future guests. We have read reviews about the brand, and it has made people's eyes water. We were almost to that point ourselves. We had to keep our bathroom door closed so the rest of the apartment could be used, but then when we went inside for anything, it was even stronger. If they can eliminate that issue, this place is a 5+! Again, great location, and Tatiana did everything she could to get a maintenance worker out. Other than that...be sure you are clear on which restaurants and facilities you can use while in the apartment. Some hotel restaurants/bars are only for hotel guests. We loved Green Jack Tar restaurant down the beach and the buffet breakfast was ok on the hotel grounds that we could pay for per person. Hope this helps!
