This beautiful mill, perfectly restored (old charming hotel) sits on a pretty river, in a pretty village of Albret, in Gascony) 3 km from Gers and Landes.
It has a very large kitchen, equipped with a beautiful Lacanche cooking piano, a very large living room with a large fireplace and a pool table.
Upstairs are 6 bedrooms with their own bathroom and their own toilet.
A private island hosts a swimming pool surrounded by a large bamboo hedge.
As cut off from the world, this island is a haven of peace and serenity.
4 hours of cleaning per week are provided as well as pool maintenance (included in the rental price.

Summary: We returned this year after visiting twice more than 20 years ago. It felt like coming home. Marie-Claude is the loveliest host you could wish for. The old Mill is just a fantastic building. It has everything you could wish for. We didn't want to leave and hope that we can return again soon.

Summary: The stay could not have been better. The photos do not do justice to the place. The mill is amazing. The location is gorgeous, by the river with a view on an old stone bridge from the living room. Each bedroom has an individual bathroom. And the best is the way we were welcomed. Highly recommend.

Summary: This property is perfect for a quiet family holiday or for those with larger groups. The property is old and has plenty of character for those searching for a authentic French experience. The property is more suitable for those families with older children due to the location on the river and with the pool being slightly removed from the house. The property owner could not be more hospitable and welcoming. The house is set in a quiet & stunning rural village with a fabulous pizza restaurant (pay by cash only) with people from surrounding villages traveling to eat there. The pristine pool is set on a spacious private island next to the house. There is plenty of seating and games such as a ping pong table. The pool house has a fridge, BBQ and everything you need to spend the day relaxing.

Summary: We had a really great week at Poudenas. We were two families with young children and two grandparents and we all had a fantastic time. The pool is private and spacious and the mill itself is perfectly equipped to cater for large numbers. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and there is lots of space for the group to be together or spend time separately. Its in a beautiful location and we would definitely return again if we can. Much enjoyed by all for a relaxing, and very enjoyable holiday.

Summary: We have just returned from the most wonderful 10 day stay at this beautiful old mill. We stayed as a family of 5, but there was ample room for at least the same number again. As stated in previous reviews, it is a former Michelin starred auberge, and the former chef, Madame Gracia Rey was our host. The mill is situated in a tiny, ancient village of 300 inhabitants, and has the most delightful situation opposite an old arched bridge across the river Gelise. The mill bridges across the river to a private island where a fantastic pool awaits, completely screened from view by bamboo hedges. There is a fantastic small cooking area under cover by the pool, with BBQ, plancha, sink and fridge, allowing you to cook the wonderful local produce while the kids play right next to you. The garden itself is huge, and situated on the island, with ample dining and relaxing areas to enjoy. There is also a table tennis table which the kids loved. By the mill, our host provided a small rowing boat and a couple of kayaks, and you can explore remarkably far upriver on these. A small number of life jackets are available. Inside, the mill appears little changed in decor from when it was a restaurant. There is still a full commercial kitchen which is better equipped than mine at home. A massive walk in fridge proved extremely useful to cool a lot of water, beer and Rosé which helped with the intense heat that France was experiencing while we were there. There are six bedrooms, each with en suite facilities, including good showers. We were provided with a lovely selection of Marseille soaps and toiletries. Downstairs there is a huge dining table with a lovely view of the river and bridge, and there is another dining area outside on a small balcony over the river, which stayed cool even in the heat of the day. There is also a pool table and cues in excellent condition, a great TV, and adequate Wi-fi for holiday purposes and sufficient to stream HD Netflix. Finally, Madame Gracia Rey was a fantastic host. We were given a wonderful welcome and tour of the property and grounds, and even a tour of the kitchen garden, coming back laden with fresh produce. We were left delicious confitures, made by Marie-Claude from local produce, and even hand tied bouquets of herbs to use in cooking. Overall we had a brilliant holiday, and hope to return again soon. The surrounding area is fascinating to explore, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommended this property as a base
