Positive: Cannot rate this property high enough. Host kept us up to date with all information we needed. Super easy to access. Secluded location with great views. Lovely and quiet area. Comfortable throughout and well appointed. Fab lay out inside with hot tub and games room. Would love to come back here.

Positive: Location was remote so it was quiet . EV charging worked. Beds were comfortable
Negative: When I booked the property, it only gave me the “non-refundable” option. After I booked it, the property owner sent me the agreement to sign that the pet fee will be additional $175 on top of the already charged cleaning fee. Had they disclosed it before I booked the non-refundable booking, I would not have booked it so I was trapped. They refused to let me cancel it despite multiple requests. When we arrived at the property, the master bathroom was unclean with shaved hair residue and mouth rinse residue. When I notified the owner, she said the cleaner will come so we waited but she never came and they wanted us to reschedule it, inconveniencing our vacation time. Furthermore, the check out instructions were excessive, such as removing All linens into the bathroom, including beddings. We paid for cleaning fee already so we shouldn’t do chores on our vacation. Also, the ping pong table’s net was broken and it’s not a full size table.

Positive: I had a wonderful stay with my family and friends at Balk Retreat. The cabin was very nice and well-maintained, and the location was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Positive: The location was excellent for exploring a variety of sites in Shenandoah. The cabin was private, clean, very comfortable, and had all amenities you could want. The check in/check out process was easy. It was perfect for our family vacation and I would go back in a heartbeat.
