Positive: It was very cosy and traditional as described. Although on side of a road (not obvious from description) it was reasonably quiet. Reasonably close to village, walking was on a road with no footpath, a little dangerous at night. Lovely warm wood burner, easy to light. Home made cake and wine on arrival was a nice touch. Some Christmas decorations were up also which was lovely. Local pub, Glen Bar, was so welcoming. Well worth a visit.
Negative: No TV after first night, no WIFI at all throughout the stay, despite informing the hosts on first night. Wooden handle knives & forks old & unhygenic. Never enough hot water due to a small boiler. Not enough to fill a bath. Walk to the village through woods was manageable with wellies only, again not advisable in the dark. No contact with hosts after they were informed about TV & WiFi. We were not kept up to date. Large Bathroom window is not frosted. There is a blind for night time, but during the day you are visible to anyone walking past.
Summary: With no TV or WiFi it was a cosy quiet Christmas in a quaint traditional cottage.

Positive: It was ideal for myself and my dog to stay for the week. It has everything you could want for a relaxing, comfortable stay, in a super cute cottage. The lane to the village of Gortin makes the ideal daily walk on site, allowing a quiet and thoroughly enjoyable walk to add to visits to any where else that day. A very short, steepish section begins the walk if there are mobility issues to be noted. The gate enabled my dog to be around with no worries for his safety. Super quantity of logs were available and very swift to fetch some more following a brief request by text. Nice to be welcomed with homemade scones and a small pot of jam and the first fire set ready for lighting. Really comfortable mattress, pillows and high quality linen on the bed. Towels had spares in the wardrobe and further blankets. A thoroughly enjoyable stay on all levels. Don’t forget your red light torch because the stars are truly incredible too!
Negative: It isn’t that I didn’t like this but it’s key to drop a pin on the map on your sat nav whilst you are at the property because you can’t see the property from the road when you are travelling one way down the road!
Summary: Thoroughly enjoyable and comfortable stay in a great setting

Positive: A cozy, traditional cottage tucked beside a huge pasture with grazing horses. The cottage has great facilities. Heating, hot water and bathroom all worked very well. NIghts were quiet and peaceful, days full of birds singing and new spring flowers. There's also a great walking trail/path behind the cottage that winds up through the estate. Hope to stay again next time near Gortin. PS - the Gortin glen is amazingly beautiful = lakes, ravine, valley and forest are all magical.
Negative: All was great - and the one issue with the washer was taken care of quickly.
Summary: Genuine Irish Cottage on an huge, old estate for a real Eire experience.
