Positive: This place brings you serenity from the moment you alight the train. In the 100m walk from the station your worries fade and the relaxing starts. The surroundings are contagiously calm, and then when you enter the venue all is sorted. A no-regret is the halfpension, this food was out of this world.

Negative: Although the place offers lots of explanations for first-time-japan-lovers, a little introduction into Kaiseki dinners would have been nice.

Positive: Wow, what an incredible experience! The food was amazing, the staff were so welcoming and kind and they give you great tips of what to do in the area. Probably my favourite spot in japan so far. I miss this place already! This place is only a 2-3min walk from the amami train station and there are plenty of shrines and places to walk to near by. There is a local lunch restaurant you can go to and many little day trip outings that you can do to make little local items (buttons, chopsticks, book marks) def plan to visit at least 2 nights just for the experience alone!

Negative: We wish we had booked for longer!

Negative: The area is not that remote, you can hear cars and the train and the properties gardens have seen better days.

Positive: We left our hotel on Osaka's crazy Dotonbori to find a calmer Ryokan. We loved this place because of the old Japanese architecture & garden. It was our favorite hotel among the six we stayed in Japan (including Okinawa).

Negative: They have an old world waiting room that is charming, but has a serious mold issue. I stayed in there for an hour during our stay and had a headache for days afterward. I didn't think I was susceptible to mold, but regrettably cannot attribute this headache to anything else. Avoiding this room and this place remains our absolute favorite hotel. Oh, also there are very few eating options nearby.
