Positive: It’s a beautiful old home, well appointed, great balcony overlooking the plateau and a great location.

Negative: We had power outages twice…the last time it took 5 hours to get it fixed. The communication between the housekeeper and us was difficult because of the language barrier and the owner didn’t respond in a timely fashion.

Summary: Great location, lovely home, power challenges, good for 2 couples or 2 people who want their own bed

Positive: The people providing the keys were extremely nice and helpful. The home was beautiful with a great view. Very authentic and spacious. The house if very charming, but you must be able to navigate steep stairs. The 2 lower bedrooms were very comfortable. The living room and dining room were very nice and we enjoyed the balcony.

Negative: I had trouble connecting with the host for key pickup as the number I called was not answered for several hours. The parking situation is not great. We never moved our car because we were concerned we wouldn't get a parking space again. Beware, that there is only 1 restaurant that accepts credit cards in this area. The 3rd bedroom does not have a bed, but a pull out sofa and we couldn't find a fan in that room. There is a bad smell in the downstairs bathroom and back porch that needs to be addressed.

Summary: We enjoyed our time in Monsanto & the authenticity of the home. The scenery was beautiful.

Positive: Amazing old house in an amazing old village. This is a really unique place to stay. Large house with different levels, an unexpectedly funky floor plan, a surprisingly decent kitchen, right in the center of a one-of-a-kind village. There's a nice veranda with a beautiful view overlooking the surrounding countryside.

Negative: It's a very old house, so expect creaky floor boards, and a bit of mustiness in the bathroom. But the fact that it's a very old house (and all that comes with that) is part of the charm.

Summary: Great old house with a lot of character to match the village.

Positive: This property was fabulous. It was full of antiques and just looked like someone's home. It felt so comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were up to date but the location and all the furnishings hinted at another time and place. We loved the location. We could walk all over town from there. The patio was huge and such fun to hang out on in the morning and evenings. The washer was a plus and worked just great. We totally enjoyed our stay.

Negative: There are lots of stairs in the home, so it is not for anyone who has ambulatory issues.

Summary: First class stay!

Positive: In a wonderful location near the entrance to town with access to parking near the church which makes it easy to unload luggage. The size of the house from the street is deceptive as it is quite large inside with a wonderful balcony at the back overlooking the valley. Nicely decorated with a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and comfy beds. If mobility is an issue for anyone in your party there are a number of stairs to consider to access the kitchen, bathrooms and 2 lower bedrooms, some without a hand rail. The local contact was lovely and we managed to communicate even with the language barrier.

Negative: Communication with the host and local contact was good, before and during our stay, so disappointed that there was no response to a message after we left concerning a medical article left behind
