Summary: The views from the gorgeous deck were spectacular. The driveway up to the property is steep. The house is well equipped. The beds were comfortable and the linens were new and in great shape. The appliances are new and were mechanically sound. The outdoor firepit space was a nice place to gather. The property is quiet and there is only one neighbor within sight. Unfortunately the property was filthy when we arrived. We had to clean floors, refrigerator, sink, microwave and bathrooms before unpacking and settling in. The digital wall thermostat had been locked out by a previous guest and the owner did not have the code. He sent the neighbor to help, but to no avail, it was locked out and we could not turn on the heat. Eventually an HVAC service person called and walked us through a disconnect and rewiring process virtually. The owner's were disappointed about the dirty condition of the property and refunded the cleaning fee. This will be a nice rental if it is taken care of and regularly maintenanced. It seemed like distance ownership is leaving the guests with the burden of upkeep.

Summary: Family of 6 adults 3 kids - perfect layout for everyone. Stylish and well thought out for a family retreat. The views are to die for! The porch is a perfect spot to gather and enjoy catching up. Kitchen is good for cooking, set up needs some tweaking, cooking tools are hap-hazard and the grill works, but has seen some better days. We finially purchased a knife sharpener! Overall its 5 star fun!

Summary: Seriously, the deck alone made the stay wonderful (big space, shaded, comfortable furniture, nice breeze, no bugs). The house was super clean with a well equipped kitchen. Terry, the host, was simply magnificent.

Summary: We had such a nice time in this remote location catching up with friends. The views were wonderful from the balcony and the entire house was perfect. Very comfortable and relaxed environment for a weekend in with friends.

Summary: Perfect place for a low key getaway. We met some friends there for the weekend. Kids and adults both liked the space. Plenty of room to spread out. Nice views and great yard. House was super clean. Great place to hole up for a winter weekend. We made a snowman, played hide and seek, drank hot cocoa and watched movies. The large table was perfect for meals and playing games. The kitchen and appliances were super nice. Bathrooms were clean and spacious. We liked that there were two living spaces as well. The deck was beautiful. Although we didn’t hang out there (too cold!) we were still able to use the grill. I would say the *only* thing I would’ve changed would be to have a door on the bunk bed nook. It was super cozy but a door would’ve helped with the noise so the kids could go to sleep a bit easier. Other than that, absolutely perfect. The kids definitely thought it was fun... each bunk space has its own light! Little details like that were not overlooked. It’s a spacious and beautiful home! Would love to return!

Summary: We had a great time at Dear Camp... Our family consisted of 4 adult couples... we went biking in Decorah and hiking at Great River Bluff during the day, and enjoy bonfires, laughing and games in the evening. Spectacular view of the valley and hills. Saw an eagle perched in a tree from the balcony. Dear camp is a beautiful place, comfy beds, clean and all the amenities of home. Lots of good memories! Thank you Travis and JoAnne for everything!
