Villa Sonrisa is a 2400 sq. ft. (250 sq. m), two-level villa located in Cupecoy. The main living space is on the first floor, both bedrooms with ensuite baths are on the second. This VERY private villa is perched on a bluff overlooking Cupecoy Beach. Enjoy an unobstructed panorama of the islands of Saba, Statia, and St. Kitts. The music of the ocean is always near and so is Cupecoy Beach which is only a few yards away requiring a less than one minute walk from your front door. The villa and beach are south facing so you are bathed in sunlight all day from sunrise to sunset. Even as your view is panoramic and unobstructed when on the terrace or balcony, you can’t be seen by anyone on the beach nor from other villas. Sonrisa is privately owned but all the amenities of The Sapphire Beach Resort are available to you including but not limited to the restaurant and bar, the Olympic-sized pool, the activities desk, car rental, and the computer room with the printer. It is truly an ideal location, chosen by the Dutch Queen of the Netherlands, Queen Beatrix, to stay in while she vacationed in St Martin and her staff stayed in the adjacent villa.
Your piece/peace of paradise away from home includes the following amenities: fully air-conditioned, and free WiFi throughout. On the main level, interior, you will find a well-appointed kitchen; the open concept living space consists of a dining area, a comfortable sectional sofa, a large flat-screen Smart TV, and a full bathroom with laundry. On the main level, exterior, there is a covered terrace with outdoor dining, a ceiling fan, and two loungers for relaxing. The private pool is perfect for floating and/or enjoying a beverage. Upstairs, interior, there are two nearly identical well decorated, air-conditioned master suites each with king-sized beds, large flat-screen Smart TV’s, and ensuite baths. Each ensuite contains a double sink, bathtub, toilet, and a stand-alone shower... The covered upstairs balcony is accessible from either bedroom, has two ceiling fans, a loveseat, and two comfortable sling back chairs.
There are two designated parking spaces only 15 paces from your front door in a covered, gated, pass-key secured parking garage. To enter the villa, you do not pass through a lobby, take an elevator, stairs or enter any other structure. You go straight from your car to your front door. This allows you to remain safe, healthy, and avoid crowded indoor public spaces. Villa Sonrisa has withstood hurricanes and pandemics.

Summary: Our 2nd visit to this villa was as awesome as the first. Prompt communication with John ahead of time. Stacy met us when we arrived. This centrally located place is clean and modern with pretty much everything you could ask for. The balcony and plunge pool area are terrific, and an ideal place to just sit and take in the view and listen to the waves. The kitchen is small but has most things you will need (there were no spices other than salt and pepper, no coffee filters, oil, etc,). The beach is literally 20 steps away and the Sapphire Beach Club pool is just up the steps in front of the villa. Porto Cupecoy and its Carrefour grocery store and several restaurants are a 5 minute drive away, or walk if you prefer. Other restaurants and another Carrefour are a short walk in the other direction. Mullet Bay is walkable too. Maho and Marigot are short drives by car. The villa is very private and everything worked well. We will definitely be back.

Summary: We sometimes preferred to stay at the villa and enjoy our private pool on the balcony. We could swim right in front, only steps to the water and a beautiful small beach. We were often the only people on the beach! A few things in the unit need some maintenance but other than that, the place was very well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your time in Don't Maarten! We would definitely return again!

Summary: The view is outstanding from both the main balcony and from both master bedrooms. The plunge pool is a nice to have with a view of the ocean. The location is great to shopping and restaurants. The negative is the place is very run down and need of some major updating and repairs. The villa is located at the Sapphire Beach Club which is a 3-start resort. This use to be the property to stay at but no longer is well kept. Here are a few issues we ran into with the villa. We were given one key for the villa. I had to wait 3 days to get a second key which was a major hassle for a group of four. We didn't have hot water when we got there. The property manager did resolve that issue quickly. The ice maker was turned off. We turned it on, and it leaked all over the floor. The property manager was aware of the issue and turned it off and brought us 2 bags of ice. The shower didn't drain so you stood in a few inches of water as you showered. The wood deck as you enter the property is rotting out and a hazard. Overall, both the villa and resort need to be updated. I travel to the Caribbean once or twice a year. I stayed at Fourteen which is a short walk from this place. That place is new and much nicer but doesn't have the outstanding views like this place. I'm not sure if I would stay here again or not. It has potential but needs some care.

Summary: Our lodging was great. The property was clean and secure and the view of the water was amazing. Our host responded quickly to a problem with our coffee maker. The kitchen is small but functional and the beds were super comfortable. No instructions were left about how to close out at the end of our stay but we left all kitchen items clean. Loved sharing food with the sweet neighborhood cats.

Summary: We enjoyed staying at this property and are already trying to figure out when we can go back. The property is in an area near Maho/Simpson Bay Beach, restaurants, grocery store, casino, shops, etc. Stacey and John were fabulous in answering our questions and providing any information we needed. Stacey met us when we arrived to walk through the condo with us and even provided us with snacks and drinks the first day. Looking forward to returning to St. Maarten and booking this property again for our next trip!

Summary: All in all a very nice place on the island. View from condo was magnificent with nice beach area lots to do in the area including casinos, restaurants and beautiful Mullet Bay Beach. I suggest seeing different beaches. One of our favorites being Fryers Bay Beach just a short distance away. Private pool on the patio was a great added touch for a late night/early morning swim. Would definitely stay at Sonrise 7 again
