A reputable architect designed the duplex to take maximum advantage of the surrounding geography in a manner that would create a serene and private setting for its occupants. The area is quiet, the sounds of nature abundant, and the gurgling creek soothing (which when flowing at its usual pace can be heard when inside either dwelling), and visits from deer, bugling elk, wild turkeys, and the occasional owl or bear are daily reminders of one’s connection with nature. The placement of the carport between the two parts of the duplex, as well as the layout and position of each home in relation to the other, was designed to maximize the exposure of each to nature and to maintain privacy between the dwellings.

What Our Guests say 500 + Reviews

May 5, 2025 08:27:55 PM
Summary: Myself, my wife, and a couple of friends stayed here for two nights during our California/Oregon roadtrip. Pros:The property is easy to find, and checking in was smooth. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery. There is a laundry room stocked with detergent.Cons:The kitchen and bathroom counters appear to have an untreated wood finish. You’ll notice a sign on the kitchen counter that says to keep the counter dry as wetness can ruin the finish. While, perhaps, aesthetically pleasing to look at, it’s a highly impractical choice. Treating the wood with some kind of sealant would solve the problem. The shower is one of those stand-alone tubs with a curtain that goes 360 degrees around. As a previous reviewer said, it’s like showering inside a trash bag- not an enjoyable experience. The hot water cut off on our last night forcing myself to take a shower in frigid conditions. Given some time, the owner may have been able to make this right, but we left the next day.Don’t expect to sleep much later than 5:30AM-6:00AM if you’re a light sleeper. There is a Rooster next door that starts going around that time. Thankfully, for me, that was around the time I was getting up each day anyway. I realize it’s not something under the owners control, but one should be aware. Overall, we mostly enjoyed our stay, but a few key changes to the space would bump my review up a couple of stars

Summary: As an example for the whole house, If there were more than 3 coffee cups in the house, I'd think you all actually cared what the guests think and I'd give it a 5. But clearly this house is missing many basic amenities from lack of care. It takes very little money to replace this stuff imo. Owners need to not just depend on the company and do a walkthrough of their homes every so often and hk needs to be making sure things are getting replaced and cleaned properly. This house has so much more potential than the effort it's given

Summary: Home is very nicely decorated and very comfortable. There is a deck on the side that is great for unwinding in the evening. Property was extremely clean and Vaca staff were very responsive. Things I did not like: A sign at the front entrance indicating I should remove my shoes, a very large sign in kitchen that tells me check out time is 10 am, etc. Put these requirements in the book in the living room. The counter tops in kitchen and bathroom were very pretty but not practical for tenants. If you like unfinished wood, you should have it in your own home but not for your rental property. Finally, the bathroom tub is a very poor choice for retired couple with bad back, hip replacements and knee replacements. The tub was very high and hard to get in and out of. We would not rent this property again.,

Summary: Very clean tasteful bungalow. Fairly well equipped kitchen (needs a few more mugs only had 3 - and glasses). Comfortable beds. Bathroom is ok, has poor to no drainage of sink and tub. Difficult to use. Shower works but because of plastic liner you feel like your in a giant baggie and the controls are outside of the liner so it's a bit screwy. Location is great, private, and close to many beautiful sights. For the price you can't complain. It is very clean and tastefully decorated. I would give it five stars of the bathroom drains worked and the shower was reengineered! There is a Keurig but only k cups. A French press but no kettle. Great toaster oven, regular gas stove that worked well, pots and pans, and dishware. Nice tiny deck area which was great to sit on after a day at the beach or a day hiking. We hope to return again. This was our second stay here.

Summary: This house was exactly what we were looking for. Close enough to hear the ocean waves yet tucked back into the hillside. Close enough to walk to town. We found this little gem to be perfect. The shower is our only con from the stay. Although the tub is pretty, The shower curtain touches you while showering and shower head isnt adjustable. Other than that, it was great!

Summary: Attractive, bright, light, airy, IKEA styled home. Still in process to finish up some of the details. Many thoughtful amenities but still missing some essentials to make this little house a truly comfortable stay. The neighbors rooster is a problem if a light sleeper. Bring earbuds. Additionally, the neighbors house has a security light that floods the bedrooms with light. The windows could use blackout shades or curtains. Maybe the homeowner could provide eye patches and earplugs as a courtesy. Very generous that dogs are allowed, I would suggest the homeowner provide dark sheets To cover sofa and beds. It is hard to keep some pooches from jumping up. Coverlet too warm, but only saw a Single throw blanket. House needs an entry coat rack or hooks to hang coats on. Once weather becomes rainy this will be all the more essential.
