Positive: The property is nice and the staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel room and common areas are a bit dated. The location is perfect close to all the important sites (world heritage sites); the shuttle to the station a plus. Breakfast and dinner were good.

Positive: The facilities were all really well maintained. The welcome amenities nice but we just didn't have the time to utilize it. We got the Japanese styled breakfast, and it had a great variety of food.

Negative: Everything was up to my expectations. No points to be made here.

Positive: The staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive. They made an extra effort to help us find food and attractions and feel comfortable in our native English tongue. We stayed in the Hourai suite, which was huge and beautifully maintained. Highly recommend to travellers to Nikko.

Negative: The only downside was the hill up to the hotel, which can be traversed with a shuttle bus service though not clear when and how to access this from the station as I think it is adhoc not a constant service. This could be easier to help guests arrive for check in.
